AMD RYZEN 7 3800X $329.99

3800x is Faster by 200 mhz FYI
Frequency means nothing. Read the reviews on the 3800x, it was DOA, uses more power and provides a minuscule increase in speed that no one would ever notice in the real world.

2x memory writes also, the 3700x is nerfed in the memory controller.

It's not exactly a secret, just look up any memory benchmark. Memory writes are half on the 3700x.

I'm pretty darn sure the 3800x is a single CCD Complex that suffers the SAME fate as the other two chips. MEANING all 3 are nerfed.

My bad, I thought only the 3700x had the slower memory. I never actually seen a 3800x in a test, I mean it is so not worth it, that it's not even included in any benchmarks usually.

It doesn't matter much as in general computing/gaming nerfed writes are not the end of the world.

It could have 1000x the memory writes and it'd still be a nothing burger.

at msrp 100% agree there's zero reason to buy it but at the same price as the 3700x(unless you can find the 3700x for more than 4 dollars less) there's no reason not to grab it if some one was planning on getting the 3700x anyways.

If you're into the game packages, you get TWO games vs ONE game if you buy the 3800x over the 3700x.

Personally, I'm more interested in the memory controller. My Hynix CJR will run at 3600/Cas 16 on a 3900x, but only at 3600/Cas 18 on a 3600(x). I never used the 3700x, but I'd think that the 3800x is just better binned. To me, it's worth the extra $30 for the better binning and the extra game (Market value ~$20). At MSRP, it isn't worth an extra $50-60.

Friend is scooping this with a Asus tuf x570, 16GB Corsair 3200, and a pcie 4 nvme 1TB inland drive for under $700. Crazy.
