Hopefully. Got a sprained ankle and broken foot I am recovering from right now, makes VR testing a bit of a PITA. Hoping to start today.Good review as always!.
Will the VR results be coming soon?
Thx for your hardware work!
Just noticed the Silver award was placed on it, not sure if I didn't notice it the first time or the strong criticism in the final impression made me conclude there would be no award.
Still, nice to finally get RX Vega out in the wild and move on. This constant Vega hype since April has been hard on poor Seymour.
So you are new to GPU hardware....but this must be the worst card AMD has ever released.
That is fixed. Might have to clear your browser cache....Just noticed the Silver award was placed on it, not sure if I didn't notice it the first time or the strong criticism in the final impression made me conclude there would be no award.
Even if gamers don't buy it, Vega will still make tons of money off of crypto-miners for the foreseeable near future.
FE models. I will add that to the system config page, thanks for pointing out we did not mention that specifically. Thanks for the in-depth review, may I ask if the Nvidia cards used were FE or AIB models?
"MudsVille?"It's a sad day in MudsVille.
I think that AMD did a fantastic job for the time they had and the money they had to invest in it, or the lack of money, as the case may be.
I really think that they were screwed with, AFAIK, HBM2 delays from their suppliers. That really hurt them.Question: Was Vega delayed, or has it just been a glimmer of hope in the distance for quite some time now? I remember people talking about Vega when I bought my 970 some time ago.
Let's stay on topic of the review. If you want to discuss this, please start your own thread. To qualify that statement, it's the worst card AMD has ever released relative to other worst cards they've released.
The main drag is, in the past, there have always been trade offs in their unspectacular new chips -- many I've been happy living with. 290xt... high power draw and heat, but excellent performance; 3870... lower performance, but well priced. With Vega, there's no upside apart from, maybe, havimg another (albeit inferior) option in the upper tier.
Thanks for the in-depth review, may I ask if the Nvidia cards used were FE or AIB models?
For outstanding contribution in Sweating@Home?Not even a feel good star? You know the kind kids get these days even if they fail so they don't get hurt feelings.

Ryzen is soon to be killed by CFL. It's already lacking in gaming and single-threaded tasks and 6/12 cfl will be a nail in a coffin.Personally I think your conclusion was too soft.
AMD only now achieved maxwell high-end performance per watt.
Let that sink in.
Nvidia managed to produce cards that perform simillarly (the 980 Ti and Titan Xm) using an EOL process node, stock-standard GDDR5, and two and a half years ahead. Vega is a complete failure as far as I'm concerned, not from a consumer standpoint, as pricing can always save a product, but from a 'faith in AMD' standpoint. NVidia's rumoured to release Volta before Christmas, and AMD will have nothing, NOTHING to show for all the time we waited.
Ugh.. at least Ryzen is awesome...

It's that shit, leaky GF 14nm process which is to blame. I'd love to see a Vega made on TSMC's process just like an nVidia card. Then we could see a real comparison of their architectures. Ryzen only looks good because intel have been sleepy for the past five years, it's also crippled by GF's crappy 14nm node.
