It gets updates, to an extent. I can still install the most recent AMD drivers on my Tahiti cards.

Yep, still GCN, will get updates and Crossfire on titles that are supported. (normally older games) I do believe there is a crossfire toggle now in wattman for the card too so you can run in single mode.
