The Turkish website Donanimhaber has leaked the details of the upcoming Radeon HD 6990. I'm reposting the leaked slides for those of you that can't access the site directly.

If those numbers are not just marketing - that's pretty sweet!

wow those slides at the end are crazy, stating nearly perfect scaling with 2x6990s. If that is true then I might just justify getting 2 of them....

Gotta love the scales on marketing graphs...108% is 3x as tall as 100%! 6990 is 67% faster than gtx580, but 400% taller on the graph!

if 2x 6990 scales that well, doesn't that mean 4x 6970 would scale just as well?

    The HD6990OC version will apparently have 3 PCI-E power connectors: 2 8pin and 1 6-pin, that's the only way I can see getting 450W on a card.

If the Asus Ares 5970 came loaded with 2 8pin and 1 6pin, then, what would the Ares 6990 come with? 3 8pin? This also makes me wonder how many connectors the Asus Mars GTX590 and EVGA GTX590 FTW cards will come with...

*67% faster than GTX580, if true, would be amazing, though I wish the stock 6990 could be 67% faster than the GTX580.

EDIT: I wonder if AMD will release a STREAM version of this card.

I love to get one. Just let me mortgage my house here, especially since I would need a new PSU too.

if those powertune things work like they say, and 20% more airflow, AND the vapor chambers, that could mean its less noisy than 5970, and is actually a better card than 5970 in terms of just working.

5970 was seriously the first proper dualcard to just work.
GTX295 is the 2nd on the list.
    then we have HD3870X2.

Theese cards get mighty advanced in terms of board design, cooler design and power control methods.

What on earth did they do to be able to claim a near 100% scaling with two of these? Have they magically solved all scaling problems somehow? If true, this is *huge*.

To be fair, I've seen 100+% scaling before for nvidia, but I think this is a first for AMD.

Why is this only coming with miniDP to SL DVI instead of DL DVI? UGH.

In fact, looking at the cheesy way AMD played with the Y axis on their comparison chart against the 580 it would seem that SLI 580 would smack the 6990 like a little bitch.

They're talking about the same card, if you switch the BIOS toggle from position 2 to position 1 it naturally overclocks it and that is what they are illustrating.

I like it, and believe it, except for 'Antilles Unlock Switch for Uber Mode' - That is completely out of character with anything AMD have ever marketed before. I'm suspicious, very suspicious.

However, the rest of it seems very plausible.
Look at the size of those VRMs!

    Most likely But i would rather pay ~599 - 699 for a dual card than 1000-1200 for 2 580s or 1000+ for a 590

but i do agree the graphs are bad

Sigh so would I need an second active display port adapter to replace a 5970? Cause that tacks on another $100.

I wonder if they actually did something to get 100% scaling or if its just a load of BS or just works in 1 benchmark. If its a driver update I'll just buy another 5970.

    Impressive!

That is a lot of juice going into 1 pcb!

Great marketing too, at a rez. of 7680 x 1600 I'd wager the 580, even in SLI just simply run out of memory. Looking at the 3gig model minimum. Though if your in the market for a 6990, I'd say multi-monitor is a priority and that is certainly a possible target resolution for you.

The quad scaling is truely awe-inspirering if correct.

    Y.

AMD appears to be bringing it. I mean anything you could ever dream to imagine for this card is here. Amazing cooling, quieter than previous dual chip operation, Exceptional scaling, dual bios mode, 2gb x 2 vram etc..

Nvidia has their work cut out for them. I'm not gonna count GTX 590 out yet. But it's looking like another AMD win and my gut also tells me price will be in their favor too. :)

Thanks! March is shaping up to be a fun month. HD6990, GTX590, and quite possibly Bulldozer performance figures. Can't wait.

I am skeptical about this, but optimistic at the same time. If this ends up being true, then I am speechless. If this ends up being true, then I think those of you who were hoping that Antilles was going to be a bargain just had your hopes dashed. This is going to be one incredibly expensive video card.

Why would you? It comes with all the adapters you need for 3 monitors. If you already have an adapter, you'll end up with a spare.

All right, perhaps someone can clear this up for me.

In the slides it mentions PowerTune which is optimized for gaming rather than non-gaming benchmarks, is this similar to TurboBoost on current Intel chips?

Does this means that during a particular taxing moment in game it will boost your cards power until it reaches the TDP ceiling or am I way off?

Sorry if this is common knowledge!

    Thanks!

only if you keep the resolution for each monitor at 1920x1080 or lower.

Oh, good catch. My monitors are 1920x1080, so I tend to forget about these distinctions.
