Processor line up which you can consider from my perspective:

Notice the pricing leaps when you go from x800 to (x+1)000 SKU's.

Athlon FX-7x carry about ~60% premium per processor over Uni-processor configurations..

Athlon FX-74 ($799 per pair) or ~$400US per processor.
Athlon FX-72 ($599 per pair) or ~$300US per processor.

Athlon 64x2 6000+ 241US (Quite a leap here...)
Athlon 64x2 5600+ 188US
Athlon 64x2 5200+ 178US

Athlon 64x2 5000+ 167US (Quite a leap here...)
Athlon 64x2 4800+ 136US
Athlon 64x2 4400+ 121US
Athlon 64x2 4000+ 104US (Quite a leap here...)
Athlon 64x2 3800+ 83US
Athlon 64x2 3600+ 73US

Athlon 64 3500+ 69US
Athlon 64 3200+ 58US

Sempron 3600+ 53US
Sempron 3500+ 42US
Sempron 3400+ 37US
Sempron 3200+ 31US (Wow.. cheap!)

The FX 7x would be reasonable, if only a suitable motherboard could be found for around $200-250.

Are socket 939 chips going to be included in this price drop? 939 opterons as well?

Not likely, as they've been discontinued for some time. Semprons may or may not still be affected, certainly not the mainstream and high-end solutions.

The only Socket 939 chips that are included in this price drop are the old Athlon 64's. As of this price list the 4200+/4600+ on Socket 939 have been removed.

None of the Opterons have been touched in this update it's only the desktop consumer sector which has been targeted.

so now that the price cuts are here, what is everyone getting? i'm still contemplating pulling the trigger on a 3600 brisbane.

Same, though undecided on mobo....

same here, i'm deciding between the biostar tforce 550, dfi infinity nf ultra II, or an abit KN9 ultra. which ones are deciding between?

still waiting for an agena :D
me too! but first i'd like to stop using this pentium d rig as a main rig and get myself an am2 mobo and brisbane to tide me over till the quads come out.

price cuts aren't reflected yet at most retailers, unless I'm missing something?

is it more worthwhile to get one of the other brisbanes (4400+ or 4000+) instead of the 3600+? if it matters my goal is to try and reach 3.0ghz (or at least 2.8ghz) on one of these bad boys.

umm, this really makes me think about my next build and sticking with AMD instead of going to intel

Well if you want to save money, go ahead and pull for the 3600.... but if you want higher multiplier & stuff... then just shell out a few extra bucks... Either way, good deals. :)

true. after careful consideration i think i'm gonna go with the 3600, the oem version is $35 less than the next fastest chip!!! anyways, i'm about to pull the trigger on this and i'm still undecided on a mobo, abit kn9 or biostar tforce 550?

Well the Tforce should be a sure thing for a good O/C board... since a lot of people have it. I'd say 90% of them are happy...

on 2nd thought... I just checked out the Abit board & it looks pimp. :-P hahaha (personally, I prefer full ATX)...oooOO(Call me old fashioned)

6000+ time for me. Will move this 5200+ to the HTPC. I know its not a huge jump, but the HTPC jump from 3800+ to 5200+ will be significant.

LOL, the same ones you are bro! I also just started looking into the EVGA,but cant find much info. Good luck brother, and let me know what you decide on!

Ditto.

I did read someone on this forum say the EVGA is the same as the foxconn C51XEM2AA

And it does look very similar.

<Edit> Just took a peak at the DFI board.
It seems to have two IDE ports. :D

Damn - that new price on the X2-6000 sure is tempting. With the FX-60's selling for $350-$400 on Ebay it sure is tempting to sell my current rig and build a new AM2 system. Hmmm - I wonder how much I could get for my old stuff (FX-60, DFI Ultra-D and 2 gigs of Kingston HyperX)?

What is the fastest socket 939 available? I have a 3800+ and might be interested in upgrading with these cuts. Most of the X2's I find are AM2, and I'd be after the fastest 939 without an OC:)

that dfi board is nice, but i've been reading that they're often shipped without 65nm support and need a newer bios to gain support. so unless you have a 90nm am2 on hand you're gonna need to wait and have dfi send you a new bios chip.

QFT. I've heard the same, but I've also heard rumor that newer shipments are shipping with the updated bios.

the abit KN9 is full atx:confused:. maybe you were looking at the msi K9N which is matx, but a sweet looking board nonetheless.

oh ok, i guess that just adds another mobo to choose from and make my decision even tougher. i was almost settled on the tforce 550 but the placement of the atx connector is killing me.

I just checked out the EVGA forums in hope of finding some useful info about the EVGA AM2 board, no luck....

I went with the Gigabyte SLI board in my sig. I think I'm one of the few people that actually followed through with the whole "buy one vid card and buy another later" when jumping onto the SLI boat. :)

So far, one of the most problem free upgrades I've done in a LOONGG time. I've never had everything work the second I boot up my PC. :D

the price drops were great, but the hot bundles are now gone. :( i'd end up paying about the same in the end for the 6000+/tfoce 550 board now.

at this point, it might be better to wait till 4/22...

Starting to think the same thing, I just cant find a motherboard that floats my boat..

I jumped on the new prices. I bought a X2 6000 and and an Asus crosshair board and some Corsair dominator DDR2 800 memory. This is my first Asus board,i was going between the Gigabtye GA-M59SLI board, the Abit fatality, and a DFI Lanparty.I heard Asus has a lot of bios problems, now i'll find out first hand.DOUG

well i went ahead and ordered an 3600 brisbane and biostar tforce 550 setup. this is gonna go in my parents/home office rig. i went with the 3600 since newegg had the oem for $65 and picked up the ac freezer from ewiz (the one posted in the hot deals forum). i chose the 550 since this was an intended budget rig so anything over $100 was a no go. plus most people have been getting this mobo and seem to get great results from them.

one price cut over with, one more to go. my ds3 rev 3.3 is getting lonely, lol.

$65 for a chip that falls between the E6400 and E6600 after overclocking...with a cheaper motherboard...actually, it's only $115 for a 3600 and a TForce...I really want one.

I also jumped on the x2 6000+,for $239 and decided on the GIGABYTE GA-M59SLI-S5 Socket AM2 board for $160 . After going thru all the performance reviews I could find, I'm hoping I made the right decission. :)
