Hey friends,

I just build a cheap home server box using an AMD Kaveri quad core 65watt APU.

I dont really need the "video/IGP" side of the chip for anything graphics intensive. Just to display the desktop when I remote in.

Any suggestions for tweaking this chip to maximize efficiency, Every watt counts!

Underclock/undervolt as much as you can before it affects server performance? I don't think the RDP desktop crosses the host GPU before being transmitted, but I could be wrong.

I'm not sure undervolting will help lower idle power. It should already be pretty low. DEFINITELY do not turn off power management if you try tweaking the voltage.

That said, you can optionally put your chip at 45w TDP mode (it should be in the BIOS). This should cap max power if you ever mange to heavily-load your server, but the idle is unchganged.

Turn off LLC if it is set to auto or on and the motherboard supports it.
