Posted about my experiences here - https://hardforum.com/threads/adrenaline-24-9-1.2037264/#post-1045969653 - to be fair, 24.10.1 has not given me any issues thus far. :)

But I was assured by all the AMD fans on this board that AMD has flawless drivers now. :coffee:

They do...yeeeah. Ignore this. :)

They have been quite good for me. As a swapper between NVIDIA and AMD failry often the key was to go for more than DDU. I'm sure there are easier ways but a clean build set me up for success.

The fact that they're having problems in what...one of the top 3 most popular games in the world? Is insane to me. To be fair - NVIDIA had similar issues with Fortnite/DX12: https://old.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/1g48nbm/psa_fortnite_crashes_on_pc_the_past_few_weeks/

I guess reports of a bugged driver were premature. Looks like the game maybe the culprit there.

It's because Fortnite is trash, Tim Sweeney should give us a new UT in UE5 since their financial woes are over with.

Haha, one comment and it’s premature. Both my son’s 4070 SUPER rig and my AMD rigs have the issue - forcing DX11 fixes it for now.

It’s definitely the game - just doubtful reinstalling fixes it. We had luck for a few rounds too and then crashes returned.

This kind of thing happened in Apex multiple times over the ~2 years I played it. They would release a major update, some would have crashing issues. People came up with all kinds of "fixes" but honestly it was a waste of time. You simply just played and accepted you might crash or waited until they patched it and fixed the game.

I remember watching my former boss's kid.Play it on his tablet and it looked like a game for children. But if i'm wrong i'm wrong
You're not wrong! They've got the whole Roblox thing going on - but scaled up to older teens.

I used to play Q3A, Unreal Tournament (I mean, I still do if I get the chance) - but after trying Fortnite with my son at Christmastime like 4 years ago I just got hooked. Fun thing to do with my son while he will still play with his old Dad.

It is free so worth a look - lots to do. I play in build mode and I use more of a stealth approach and do a lot of stupid stuff like setup traps and surprise people. All because I can't keep up mano y mano anymore with the youngbucks haha.

It's an awesome game - and one of the most graphically advanced ones, to boot!
It's not. But I don't care that people enjoy it. It's giving EPIC tons of money, which allows them to keep creating development tools for other game studios.

I don't hate the game itself, I just hate that everyone wants to turn everything into cartoon looking battle royale filled with micro transactions. I blame TF2 and Valve just as much because they popularized it in the west.

No issues in DX12 on either 24.9.xx or newest 24.10.1
Besides if you are pro you play in DX11 with details set to lowest so that grass or other details don't help to cover your enemies while lowering your frame rate to measely 120fps.
Heck, you might want to adjust texture LOD and make everything look like N64 game.

Thankfully I am not a pro 🫠

Haha.

It’s strange - my 7900 XT would crash more to the point where I am now forcing DX11. A reference 7900 XTX that I had would crash very sparingly (same system). Then on another rig a Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX has not crashed more than once - but I still forced DX11 since as anyone knows nothing is worse than a CTD when playing online.

Maybe it’s the system or maybe 7900 XT is affected more? All of the cards were and are rock solid in any other workload (and are now in everything now that DX11 is forced).

Maybe it is only issue with RDNA3 or maybe it is graphics option specific. I haven't experienced any issues whatsoever and there on top of running problematic GPU drivers I am running unpatched 13900KF 🫣

Haha wow - double whammy!

Yeah I just use Fortnite auto-settings - one rig is 1080p/360Hz (7800X3D/7900 XT) and the other is 3440x1440/175Hz (7950X3D/7900 XTX). The 1080p rig is the one with the crashes like 10x versus maybe 1x.

Remember:

If there's an issue with your computer/software/game and you have an Intel CPU:

Maybe do a RAM test... Check the PSU voltage as well, could be an issue. All good? No? Make sure you update your BIOS to the latest from the website, also disable XMP, could be causing a few issues just in case. Still having trouble? Well, update your drivers, no, make sure you do a DDU and clean uninstall the drivers. Reinstall your OS if that's not the case. Still an issue? Try to open powershell and force windows updates... Run the app in a Linux VM after a lengthy install of a hypervisor app to test and see if its just an OS issue. If it's still failing in the VM, try replacing your mainboard entirely, it may be some core logic issue.
