I have a
asrock a88x+killer fatal1ty mobo with a a10-7850k
with 8 gig of gskill 2133 ram

it has 2 pci-e 8x slots with one being 3.0

i have the following cards

an hd 3870 a sapphire vapor x r9 270x 2gb (in there solo now) an msi gaming series r9 270x also a 2gb card, and a xfx r9 280x 3gb (that is currently in RMA)

my current thought is would my pc be better off with the 2x r9 270x in crossfire i dont think i play alot of crossfire compatible games or would i be better just to sit and wait for the 280x to come back and solo card that one.

What games are you playing?

2 x 270 will be faster than a single 280x, but more headaches + more power.

I'd say if you can wait for RMA with 1 x 270x that's fine, if not use Xfire until it comes back.

Sell 1 x 270x and 1x 280x and get a 290x ! (so many cheap ones around)

What case and PSU do you have? No point in going Crossfire if you don't have good enough cases or PSUs.

i have reduced the machines i have running to just desktop 1 and my laptops

desktop1
asrock a88x+killer with a10-7850k
8gig gskill 2133
video originally intended on the 280x but it was a flake from start.
case antec 900
psu corsair hx 750 full modular

280x is boxed up ready to go back to xfx

i would need to get the msi 270x back to do xfire from my brother but he is in the middle of moving.

and i think the only games i play that are xfire compatible are skyrim and tf2 (rarely) and fallout 3

i pulled the sapphire 270x from desktop 2 im 70% sure im going to retire it and either turn it into a nas or htpc in which case ill stick the 270x back in it

Do other users really have that many problems with crossfire? I have had crossfire 7970s and now crossfire 290s and I have only run into problems with crossfire once (Diablo 3). Maybe it's because I don't buy games when they first come out so drivers, crossfire profiles, etc are sorted out by the time I play a game.
