AMD today launched the AMD Radeon™ RG2133 Gamer Series Memory and Radeon™ RAMDisk 4.1. AMD Radeon RG2133 Gamer Series Memory is the only memory on the market that offers both XMP and AMP memory profiles in one package, enabling ultimate ease in overclocking on both platforms1,2. AMD Radeon RG2133 Gamer Series Memory will ship with a free AMD Radeon™ RAMDisk 64GB, which features enhanced load-and-save functionality. When paired with an AMD A10 Series APU, AMD Radeon RG2133 Gamer Series Memory will improve frames-per-second (FPS) by up to 22 percent3. Gamer Series Memory is part of AMD’s Unified Gaming Strategy initiative that places AMD technology at the heart of digital gaming and plays a critical role that enables top performance, an outstanding experience and maximum value for PC gamers everywhere.

AMD really ought to be releasing Black Edition memory or something. This entry-level crap they are selling provides no improvement over generic memory.

Test conducted in AMD Labs to measure RAM speed/performance in FPS using “Bioshock Infinite” at 1080p, low preset. DDR3-2133 AMD Radeon™ RG2133 Gamer Series memory 2x4GB showed performance of 31.2FPS and DDR3-1600 AMD Radeon™ RE1600 Entertainment Series memory 2x4GB showed performance of 25.56FPS. Specifications: F2A85XM-D3H motherboard AMD A10-6800 APU, Driver 13.10 Beta5, OS Windows 8 64-bit. MEM-7

Might not work so hot for graphics cards....

Geezus. Everything's coming with free SSDs nowadays.

AMD Ramdisk is just rebranded Dataram software... Nothing revolutionary.

Just don't see the point of this slow, low specification memory. I think there are enough companies selling this kind of crap.

AMD have just totally lost the plot.

Dear AMD,

Gamer memory is currently already produced and of far higher quality than this crap. Please visit Corsair.com if you want to see real gamer memory.

Thanks,
A Saddened former AMD fan.

Meh. While faster memory certainly does help APU graphics performance, it would probably make more sense (gaming performance at least) to skip an expensive memory kit and just buy a discrete GPU instead. :p

The RG2133 4x4GB kit sells for $155, or you can get a HD 7750 1GB + 8GB G.SKILL kit for $5 cheaper, and the cheaper options gives much faster gaming performance.

...real gamer memory...

As opposed to imaginary gamer memory?

Anyhow, there aren't that many companies that fabricate memory. According to the article, they're just rebranding Dataram products. There really isn't that much of a market for this sort of thing anyway. Upgrading RAM in an existing computer is common enough, but building a system with performance memory isn't done very often. Look at how NewEgg has tried to diversify into kitchen appliances and you'll see the writing is on the wall already for DIY desktops.

I used to deliberate long and hard on what ram to put in my new builds. Check the reviews, the benchtests etc. etc.

I haven't done that for 5 years or more. Now its purely -

Right capacity? Check!
Reliable Brand? Check!
Right Speed? Check!
Right price? Check!

and maybe....

Does it colour match with the MB? Check!

Takes less than five minutes.

LOL RAMdisk. Only thing RAMdisk helps is load times, not framerate, and the overhead is ridiculous so performance can actually be worse.

That's usually true. The test seemed to be very carefully crafted. The details are in the fine print of the link.
