If you are building a budget box for everyday use, the crew at Real Hardware Reviews say that the AMD A10-7800 is a solid choice. The A10-7800 performed well against a similarly priced Intel i3-6100, even when it came to some light gaming.

The AMD A10-7800 really did impress us with its versatility. As stated this processor may not be able to compete with more expensive CPU’s but its processing power is still darn good… and more than a match for a similarly priced Intel i3 in most common scenarios.

Actually surprised the A10-7800 did that well.

Yeah if you are making a little box for whatever, I would always get an AMD APU over an i3, but the value segment has been AMD's home for quite some time now.

I have the a10-7870k Godveri w 16gb of ram, Not bad if you put it with a GTX1070...Hybrid crossfire with a R7-250 works but no real cigar. 40 fps in witcher 3 @ 1366 X 768. graphics turned way down. And the 4 cores only using 2 modules? Biggest problem there does not seem to be a lot of mainboards for the FM2+ socket. PS my asus board lost the realtek sound chip and supposed to be back today (crossed fingers). Not as fond of Amd as I used to be......

I dunno why they would do a review for the 7800.....it's a bit outdated, no? I thought there were higher options, like the 7850, 7860, and 7890?

I actually got a A10-7700 about 2 years ago now, and it is chugging along well, except in DOOM. DOOM is dragging like crazy, and I gotta turn everything down to low for it to run smoothly....

Terrible value for anything except a PC with no GPU slot - you can get an Athlon x4 845 + r7 250 for this exact same money.
Even the most expensive APU can't outperform a r7 250
