I decided to go the Tech Tour (that wasn't open to the general public
)
with hopes that (similar to Intel's Matrix 2 event) that I would be let in.
I was.
Upon getting to the correct building for the event we registered and got
our badges...
We then milled around the two conference rooms (a combined space of 4
small class rooms) and browsed the booths of AMD's partners...
That was the time to get all the shwag. Then about 1:00 was the presentations.
These were about AMD's products and what they can do for the customers
of the system builders/resellers/retail partners etc. If you've ever gone
through any sort of retail training "How To Sell", then you can get an idea
of how AMD's presentation was delivered.
The presentations went from 1:00 to 5:50, all talk on how AMD's products
are going to benefit your customers.
1:00
Buisness Opportinites
AMD promotional Lance Armstrong/Trek Bicycles video
Bell Micro (AMD Partner)
AMD Products for the "Average Joe" customer profile.
2:00
AMD Products for the "Gadget Guy Greg" customer profile.
AMD64 Cool n' Quiet technology demo
Microsoft Media Center 2005 Demo
Gigabyte products/profile presentation
Nvidia products presentation
3:00
AMD Products for the "Fragmaster Fred" customer profile.
AMD64 FX processor
<severly needed break>
ATI products presentaion (funny thing, ATI had a video prepared but had problems with it, so they tried to go on ahead to the ATI presenter but she arrived just as they were skipping ahead to the next presentaion)
AMD Products for the "SMB" customer profile
AMD64 Enhanced Virus Protection technology
5:00
Kingston promotional video (sorta like a PBS video on how they make memory chips)
AMD Opteron products
5:40
Q&A session with audience.
The commons building is like their employee lounge area, cafeteria, gym
conference rooms etc...
The dining area is where they had the computer demos setup...
They had some good food, but for me the rice was a bit too hard...
The alienware computers they setup for the FarCry tournament seemed to
have XP Home Edition installed...the genuine product keys were on the insided covers.
Here is all the free stuff that was handed out...
