Following criticism from politicians and organizations that track hate groups, Amazon has removed “far right-wing paraphernalia” from its store, which include “onesies with burning cross motifs, jewelry using the Nazi swastika, as well as music and audio books pushing fascist views.” Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison had contacted the company directly, warning them of "products that promote hateful and racist ideologies.”

As well as stopping items being listed and blocking sellers, Amazon said it was now working to get the items removed from its fulfilment centers. It said it used automated methods as well as teams of investigators to scan listings looking for items that break its policies or national laws covering hate speech, violence or racial intolerance.

Their store, their decision what to allow on it.
I do find it telling that one can still buy Che, BPP, BLM, Antifa, and Stalin shirts, while the only Nazi shirts you can buy are of the punch a nazi/ trump's a nazi/other anti Nazi, type shirts. A bit of a historical disconnect there at Amazon, but that is to be expected from the fragile leftist psyche. Their inability to see the irony or the hypocrisy is as amazing as usual.

Since when has a burning cross been Nazi paraphernalia? Now I wouldn’t be so gauche as to wear it (much less put a onesie on a baby) but I’d assume a burning cross to be anti religion. Or at worst a KKK image.

Whatever they’re allowed to sell what they choose in novelties. I dislike the removal of reading materials though. Those may push the agenda but they can also be a tool of knowledge into such sordid part of our society. I don’t want to go full Germany and pretend this isn’t happening.

Far right wing ... but NAZI stood for National Socialist German Workers' Party key word being "Socialist" Left, SJW,Etc.
You beat me to it. I imagine this thread will get closed eventually when emotions start flaring up.
But if we are being honest, Leftism is in favor of more government intervention, and Rightism is against government control. Extreme left would be complete control, or fascism. Extreme right would be no government, or anarchy. This gets confusing when each group in the U.S. comes to issues such as police and military, admittedly.

Hi All

Their store, their decision. Period.

While you might not find me searching Amazon for Nazi paraphernalia (or tattooed lamp shades for that matter), I'm not so sure. The same argument can be and is used when it comes to (e.g.) baking cakes.

Note to Kyle: yes, I'm being careful here, and no, I don't lean that way.

Huh?

The supreme court just ruled in favor of the cake shop FYI.

Amazon should do the same with the Rising Sun Flag of Japan.
It's the symbol of Japanese imperialism, which was equivalent to Nazi swastika.

Right-wing and left-wing can be used to describe views on social justice separate to government power. Which is stupid, but there it is.

Well, let's take this one at a time.

Nazi stands for NASDP which, translated from German is "National Workers Socialist Democratic Party". That's pretty friggin' left-wing. The only thing further left is Communism...and they're the ones who called Nazi's "right-wing". So, Nazis are left-wing. Let's keep that straight.

Burning crosses were a tactic used by the KKK. They, like the rest of the Confederacy, were Democrats. Widely, to this day, credited with being left of the rest of the political spectrum (except for Fascists, Socialists and Communists, in that order, who are to THEIR left.) So, the Klan is an arm of the Democratic Party. Let's keep that straight.

Fascism, as espoused by Mussolini, was DISTINCTLY left-wing, and greatly admired by that Democrat, FDR (and others in his circle). Fascism is a particular brand of socialism. It is one more example of left-wing political philosophy which makes the individual subservient to the state (or the people running the state, because that's the same thing, at least to them). Fascists are left-wingers. Let's keep that straight.

So, if Jeff Bezos and Amazon wants to muzzle left-wingers, that's fine but let's keep the "left-wing"/"right-wing" nomenclature correct.

I’m just going to leave this here for the fucktards trying to rewrite history:

Well. I think it's fair to say that some things are absolutely below social norms. I condemn closed-minded thinking and blatant and harmful hatred. However, I also think Amazon and eBay and a handful of others might be something greater than merely "a store." In many ways, they represent access to commerce itself. I think that taking a position - not on a category of goods, such as pronography or firearms - on a certain viewpoint or a political movement, even a historic and terrible one - is a dangerous step.

I can't say I disagree outright with a proprietor's decision in what wares to sell, but I worry about how it could be implemented.

The first step is usually the easiest - pick a group that is moat unsympathetic. Maybe the next group is marginally less unsympathetic, and so it goes.

On the other hand, I mean...Nazis.

Let’s actually be realistic and not even entertain the idea that any of those groups represent democrats or the left.

Extremist make any group look bad, and I get you’re attempting to try and keep this nomenclature ‘straight’ but people in their right mind don’t want to be associated with those groups. So the proper nomenclature isn’t really that proper.

You realize that the inclusion of that was to make the party more popular to the people and attract votes/support from the far-left of Germany, right? It was originally called the "German Worker's Party."

It was fascism, rebranded to appeal to the masses. Hitler and co essentially took over an existing party instead of forming one from scratch.

Well, let's take this one at a time.

*Facepalm*

Ok, first, one countries "left-wing" or "right-wing" is only relevant to that particular country. You have to look past the names and see what their ideology is, that's all that matters.

With regards to KKK/Confederates, they were ideology conservative (e.g. to keep it as the status quo, states rights, pro-slavery). The union was ideology progressive (stronger central government, anti-slavery). At the time, the names of the parties were reversed. The parties swapped names, but not ideologies. Lincoln was the Republican party candidate, yet his views if applied to today's politics would put him on the Democratic party side.

You guys trying to disprove the socialism in the party are missing the point, Fascism is left wing.

EXTREME LEFT = COMPLETE CONTROL = FASCISM
EXTREME RIGHT = NO GOVT = ANARCHY

Also, while they were opposed to actual communism, which is what socialism is designed to lead to, look at the actual definition of socialism:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism
"any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods"

They did take control of several markets, although the difference is that I don't believe it was intended for the fair redistribution of wealth.

I feel the thread closing as I type.

Can you find me a more unbiased source? Willing to listen to the argument but the site given is questionable at best.
There is no argument to be made ... it’s a well documented historical fact.

I hope they are not going to ban their own show, The Man in the High Castle, which depicts a world that is a Nazi sympathizer's wet dream.

It is actually one of the few works of art in which the Nazis are depicted realistically: not as 100% evil villain caricatures, but in shades of (dark) gray. There are actually quite likable Nazis in that show (like Obergruppenführer John Smith). Shockingly, even Hitler and Himmler come across as voices of reason in the dark world of the show, compared to some of the more evil characters.

Holly shit! The Nazis murdered 6 million Jews and folks around here are talking about BLM?

On the other hand, Germany strongly condemns anything related to Nazis. The people that made up and supported the Nazi party. Can't say the same for many of the Democrats that prop up BLM who's claim to fame is murdering random police officers. Nazis aren't a modern problem, but BLM is. Unless you go to prison. I suppose there are a fair amount of Nazi wannabes in prison. LOL.

Thank you. It gets tiring to see people who believe Europe's "right" or "left" wing is relevant to the US. Entirely different histories and starting points to what would be considered "conservative" or "liberal".

Although it was a lot more complex than simply switching names between the Republican and Democrats. They both evolved in various ways.
