Amazon has announced that it has acquired Eero, a manufacturer of simple-to-setup home mesh WiFi systems. This move is thought to give Amazon access to data about its customer's home appliances, devices and networks similar to how Google collects data from its Google Home and Nest products. Amazon could keep Eero independent like its Ring subsidiary or it could incorporate the tech into its Echo lineup. Amazon wants its customers to have reliable WiFi connections for more Amazon device purchases.

"From the beginning, eero's mission has been to make the technology in homes just work," said Nick Weaver, Co-Founder and CEO of eero. "We started with WiFi because it's the foundation of the modern home. Every customer deserves reliable and secure WiFi in every room. By joining the Amazon family, we're excited to learn from and work closely with a team that is defining the future of the home, accelerate our mission, and bring eero systems to more customers around the globe."

I actually have a pair of these. They work well, hopefully they continue to update them for years.

Good little system.

After a great deal of investigation on the best non-commercial mesh Wi-Fi solutions, Eero landed at the top of my stack. I've been very pleased with its functionality and simplicity for the last 2 years.

I sure hope AMZN treats Eero as a separate entity and doesn't start creeping into my life.

Oh fuck. Well guess it’s time to look at ubiquiti stuff to replace my eero.

My what big ears and eyes you have. The better to hear and see you my dear.

If you all think that any of these companies isn't using the data it gets for their own profit be it AMZN or Eero then you'd be a fool. ALSO, ANYONE COMMENTING THAT USES A SMART PHONE AND IS COMPLAINING ABOUT EASE DROPPING OR PRIVACY.... PAHLEASE! You're already in the weeds every where you go.
