:( AndersonAttack@home - The purpose of the project is to implement Anderson's attack on A5/1 GSM stream cipher. The attack's idea was described in the early 90's in a mailing group. As we know, it was never implemented in practice before. Anderson's attack belongs to a class of brute-force attacks, so given enough time it extracts a secret key with 100% probability, in contrast to the most popular rainbow tables attack on A5/1, that have success probability around 90%.

* - Note that this project does not let you join teams and will count all of your points to their team at the projects it attaches to. You also must use this as your account manager rather than attaching as an individual project. You are then entered into a drawing to win money a number of times determined by how much you contribute. You also will not see your points show up under BOINCStats of other stats sites as they do not report your contributions like other BOINC projects do. It is also considered an account manager like BOINCStats BAM! is.

Citizen Science Grid - This is the umbrella project that now houses 3 formerly separate projects (DNA, SubsetSum, Wildlife). :( DHEP - BOINC @ DHEP IS IN BETA! We are working hard to get this to prod state.
DHEP allows you to host an island running a Genetic Algorithm in an island based coevolutionary setting synthesising future super-reliable electronics such as those used in autonomous vehicles, power stations, medical equipment, aerospace. These are of increasingly paramount importance as more and more human lives rely on well functioning hardware.
Observation of population dynamics will also help us understand Evolution, not only to harness it to reach 'better than human' designs, but also to learn how migration rates, genetic diversity and the inner mechanisms of genetic recombination have concerted to reach the biodiversity and wonder of living organisms today.
DHEP is based at the University of Sussex.

DreamLab - Cancer affects so many of the people we love. But what if you could help by speeding up cancer research, simply by going to bed. Researchers are hindered by limited access to supercomputers. So that’s where you and the DreamLab app come in. It’s a free to purchase app* that uses the processing power of your idle phone to solve a piece of the cancer research puzzle. If just 1,000 people used the app, cancer puzzles would be solved 30 times faster.

NFS@Home - is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do the lattice sieving step in the Number Field Sieve factorization of large integers. As a young school student, you gained your first experience at breaking an integer into prime factors, such as 15 = 3 * 5 or 35 = 5 * 7. NFS@Home is a continuation of that experience, only with integers that are hundreds of digits long.

:( Prime Sierpinski Problem - PRP - We look at a special class of prime numbers called proth numbers which have the general formula k*2^n+1. We further specialize our search by looking at numbers for which k is prime in k*2^n+1. Furthermore it has been proven that there exists an infinite number of prime k's such that k*2^n+1 can never be prime. These k's are called prime sierpinski numbers.

Universe - Main goal of the project is to create database based on simulations of stars and galaxies, from their earliest days till their evolutionary end. It will be a valuable source of information to astronomers and also an educational tool for teachers and other people interested in the world they live in.
Using latest theories of astrophysics we will be able to predict the properties of different stars, trace their evolution and study their interactions with each other.
Information gained from this research project will allow us to expand our knowledge about stars forming, heavy elements content in their primordial medium, and answer many questions stated by astronomers and general relativity theory.
Database created will allow to not only adjust the theories to reality, but also to predict future appearance of the sky that the future astronomers will look at.

USPEX@home -USPEX is a method for the computational materials discovery developed by Artem R. Oganov and his students and postdocs since 2004. Currently it can be used for the screening of stable and low-energy metastable crystal structures, nanoparticles, surface reconstructions, molecular packings in organic crystals, and used to search for materials with desired physical (mechanical, electronic) properties. It can also predict phase transition mechanisms. Oganov's 2006 paper has been named classic by Google Scholar, and method described in it has led to many breakthroughs.
  • With this distributed computing project we invite everyone to participate in such research, which will result in New fundamental discoveries and development of new materials for new technologies.
  • More information about discoveries made by our method you may find on our our website.

  • USPEX@home is a collaborating project of the USPEX laboratory (based in Skoltech, MIPT) and Centre for Distributed Computing (based in IITP RAS) and applied optimization department (based in FRC CSC RAS).

:( Van Der Waerden Numbers - The Van Der Waerden Numbers project (123numbers.org) aims to find better lower bounds for these numbers. The sequence of colors BRRBBRRB (where B is blue and R is red) does not have an evenly spaced subsequence of length 3 that are the same color. However, if you add a B to the end, you get BRRBBRRBB, which has the same color blue in positions 1,5, and 9 which are evenly spaced 4 apart. If you add an R to the end, you get BRRBBRRBR, which has R at position 3, 6, and 9. In fact, with only two colors, there is no sequence of length 9 of Bs and Rs that does not have a subsequence of 3 evenly spaced of the same color. Van der Waerden's Theorem states that for any number of colors r and length k, a long enough sequence always has an evenly spaced subsequence of the same color. The smallest length guaranteed to have an evenly spaced subsequence is called the Van Der Waerden Number and is written W(k,r). For example, W(3,2)=9 in the example above. This project aims to find better lower bounds for Van Der Waerden Numbers by finding sequences like BRRBBRRB using large prime numbers with special properties.
