and not mess with overclocking it or anything... i know, that's not very [H] of me, but i'm a still a n00bie... :)

is value ram (of which there seem to be many different types) acceptable?

opinions would be appreciated. wise ass remarks about lack of [H]ness will be tolerated.

is that what you said when... ;)

anything from a respectable manufacturer will be fine. look at corsair, mushkin, kingston, ocz... those are some good ones

All you're gonna do is stick it in, but it's not [H]? Not gonna go there.

Oh wait, I sorta just did. Hmm. Oh well...

Value ram, sure. Nameless crap RAM? Not likely as good an idea.

If you shop around (or watch the [H]ot|DEALS forum) you can usually get pretty good PC3200 for about $40 for a 512.

If you're on a budget but are still looking for some nice ram, then of course Value ram is fine. However, if you do ever plan on OCing or something somewhere down the line, they aren't as good as higher quality types of ram, obviously.

Speaking from a bit of experience, Kingston has some nice Value ram, you might want to check that out.

as are twinmos sp and mushkin blue.

both decent value ram, and if you get a ddr booster, you can probably get decent overclocks at 2-2-2. just do some research to make sure the ones you buy are UTT ;)
