all audio got very quiet after installing vista HeLp! plz

hey guys, i recently reformatted and installed vista ultimate( same os as before) and after reformatting i noticed that my audio was very quiet and soft even at max, so i went and removed the driver and used hps driver provided by there website and still no luck. anyone know what i can do ? I have an hp compaq nc840. please help i can hear everything its just not loud at all anymore and annoying as hell.
 
If your board has the Realtek HD driver I experienced a similar issue which I was able to resolve via the newer realtek drivers.
 
used the ones of hps site....if i grab them from realtek would tis make a difference?
 
Run DXdiag and check the driver version... as long as it's 6.00.0001.5480 or later my sound improved. I last downloaded 09/11/07 driver version looks like they have a new one as of 11/19/07.
