Advanced Micro Devices face securities fraud lawsuit

the usual shareholders trying to second guess management.

As usual, this will go nowhere and make the lawyers a bunch of money.

This is not what AMD needed right now. They are cash strapped. Damn it. Really would like to see the 300 series.

Huh? By the time this makes it to trial (if it makes it to trial) the cards will more than likely have long been out. A judgement hasn't been made against them.

$1billion in cash or cash equivalents is cash strapped?

Nothing will come of this.

While not exactly cash strapped, yet, they are severely hemorrhaging. They had $1.5B in cash in 2012.

They now have $800M cash or equivalents (2014 annual report) and are losing $50-100M a year from their outrageous debt load which increased $100M to $2.1B. Plus all that cash they have in reserve is from refinancing their previous debt. Essentially taking new loans to pay off old loans.

That is not how healthy companies get cash reserves, they get it from profits.

With regard to the lawsuit, it is from investors trying to recoup for the stock tanking due to lack of financial clairity. Nice way of saying AMD defrauded stock holders. It will take years to settle and really won't go anywhere. Intel, MS, NV, etc have all faced them and came out fine. I am sure the same will happen to AMD. They will pay some money and walk away.

Only thing that will kill AMD is themselves, which is a shame.

Sorry, you are correct it is ~$1b in cash counting the marketable securities.
