Achieva Shimian QH270| $400 IPS 2560x1440 Korean Monitor

I am looking for a 5M DVID dual link cable on ebay or amazon UK. Any good cables out there? Ive seen some cables but they state the resolution is only 1200p or just Full HD. Are there differences in DVI-D cables in the resolutions they support? I thought they all supported up to 2540x1600

Look for 24AWG cables. I'm not sure if they reach the lengths you're looking for, but they are the upper end of DVI cables. They might max out at around 3M though.

Monoprice sells good 15 foot DVI cables of all configurations. Any dual link dvi cable should support higher resolutions so long as your video card does.

I don't know you will have to look into that. They sell on ebay and amazon, and some people will resell their products.

Looking into a 27" 1440p for myself for Christmas and the Korean ones look intriguing but also seem like a very risky proposition. I would (knowing me as I do) get a problem child and end up having to live with it or send it back for a small fortune.

Ordered my 3rd monitor yesterday to complete my surround gaming fantasy. I needed this one to have VGA on it as well though so I can use it with my KVM switch. Turns out the seller (ta_planet) contacted me and said they don't have any decent monitors in for what I ordered - so he offered a QH270-IPSMHL instead. This is great because that model has DVI, HDMI, VGA, and MHL. So I can connect my portable devices to it as well.

Thats why you always get a square trade warranty.

Yes some DVI-D cables only support 1200p - you need to make sure you get a DVI-D Dual Link cable. I'm not from the UK so I'm not sure where to point you.

Anyone have experience with the seller dhsummer on Ebay? I ordered a monitor a week ago and haven't heard anything from them.

The ad picture states free 2-5 days free shipping, however, at the end of it it says 1-2 days to prepare the order and 7-15 days shipping. They are also not returning any emails.

anyone have to replace their PCB? I got a new pcb from the seller but it's a different revision and im shit out of idea of how to connect it, there's no diagram that says what is what

I currently have a Achieva Shimian. While its a great monitor, I need a monitor with displayport. I have an active displayport to dual link dvi and I have nothing but problems with it. It works fine with dvi on my pc but I want to connect this to a laptop at work. Anyway does anyone have any experience with the Crossover 2720MDP GOLD. I'm debating on this or just getting an apple cinema display 27.

Well dhsummer finally returned my message:

Dear xxxxx,

Hi.
We feel very sorry, we don't send your item yet.
Because we are getting flooded with orders and this monitor is sold out for a shortly time.
So Achieva have some problem about Pannel supply.
We'll re-stock the item at the end of this week.
So we can send your item that time.
Please understand well.
If you don't want to wait, we'll full refund your money at once.
Please leave your opinion.
Thanks for your understanding.
Regards
xxxx

If the item isn't in stock then why is the for sale ad still up, even after a week? How is this not against Ebay's TOS?

I guess I'll send them a reply and keep my order for now, but I will be requesting a pixel perfect monitor and express shipping.

**Edit** Cancelled order and made an offer of $320 to red_cap which they accepted. They said it will ship today.

So crossover is the best quality compared to the others?

I'm looking for the one that has a good stand(not wobbly shit) and good quality bu not too expensive.

So I'm guessing the crossover is gonna be best for me?

I like the Crossover too, but there doesn't seem to be a model I can find that has multiple input/output ports. Desperately want a HDMI port as well for my XBOX.

Aw man... I just ordered the ACHIEVA Shimian... but I have no idea what I'm supposed to order to get it powered up. The ebay listing says it has a C plug type. Umm.. can anyone tell me what I need to order off amazon.com to get it to work?

All you need is a stand pc power cord to plug into the power brick. The power brick has a standard pc power cord connector.

SQuaretrade will not/does not honor warranties so buying one would be a waste
99.9% if the time you pay for return shipping which can be anywhere from $80 +
you have 45-days to file a claim with paypal (14-days to get your money back *all sellers follow this return policy)

Are you sure? I wrote them an email and asked about whether they did cover my Crossover 27Q and the response was yes.

Dear ,

Thank you for contacting SquareTrade.

Yes you are eligible for a warranty on your monitor! We provide only 3 year warranties on monitors. The price for the 3 year coverage is $49.99 assuming you do not purchase the Accidental Damage from Handling feature. If you do, this price will go up to $74.99.

The SquareTrade Care Plan covers mechanical or electrical failures that occur during normal use. You get 100% parts and labor coverage with zero deductibles.

Drops, spills, and other accidents are covered if you purchase Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) along with the basic Care Plan. ADH is only available on certain brand-new items.

Issues we do not cover include, but are not limited to:

Accidental damage, unless you also purchased our Accidental Damage from Handling coverage
Damage from misuse, negligence, loss or theft, or failure to perform proper maintenance
Cosmetic damage to any non-operating parts which does not affect the functionality of the item
Television, monitor, and/or projector screen imperfections, including burn-in and dead pixels (unless such defects exceed the manufacturer's criteria for acceptable dead or stuck pixels)
Consumable items such as light bulbs or lamps, fuses, and batteries
Accessories, including chargers and extension cables
Software issues or data, including viruses, spy ware, lost or corrupted data or programs, etc.
Pre-existing conditions, dead-on-arrival (DOA) items, or items that fail within any exclusionary period

Hope that answers your question!

If not, go here to view the contract summary. You can also reply to this email or call 1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) US & Canada only, 24/7.

Thank you,

I asked them specifically using my eBay item number and made it very clear it was a Korean imported monitor.

Just got one in... and it's awesome! Just a few questions... is there a way to tilt the screen? It's angled a bit downward for my liking.

And I have a potential problem... I'm using a Radeon graphics card that as just one DVI and one HDMI output. The Shimian has no difficulties using the DVI, but I can't seem to get it to work with the HDMI when I use an adapter. Anyone else have this problem? I'd potentially like to get another for dual screen purposes, but this is really worrying me. The video card in question is a MSI Radeon 7970.

It won't work with a hdmi-dvi adapter. It will only work with an active! (very important) display port to dual-link dvi that's ~50$ on amazon. The threads on overclockers.net have direct links to confirmed working adapters.

Is perfect pixel worth it? I'm in a small dilemma on deciding whether to order perfect pixel or not, that red_cap seller says that it will be fine none-pixel perfect but there may be some dead pixels, yet he gurantees 100% working no dead pixels with pixel perfect. It's $60 more. $320 vs $380.

I wonder what happens to all the monitors that are inspected as part of the pixel perfect program and are found to not be pixel-perfect.
Sold off as non-pixel perfect monitors, I presume?

It's why I don't support pixel perfect. It isn't adding value in any way. It's just a way for manufacturers to make more money off of consumers.

It's a fraud dressed up as a service. Either way, customers (on a whole) do not win. The only people who do are the manfacturers. The distributors make little extra profit, the people who paid for pixel perfect paid more when they could have gotten the same without pixel perfect (and may get monitors with worse uniformity, backlight bleed, contrast... it's just covering hot pixels, after all), the people who didn't get pixel perfect get screwed because they get all the non-pixel perfect monitors, and the manufacturers get extra money they wouldn't have otherwise gotten for the same batch of monitors.

If you read the whole thread you'll find lots of mixed experiences with the pixel-perfect guarantees. There's not enough evidence to believe that every seller individually inspects each unit sold as pixel perfect. Rather, many of them just offer you an exchange if your unit arrives imperfect. Some buyers have been asked to pay the return shipping on their own to send their unit back if it arrived with dead pixels. If you are considering buying a pixel perfect unit, use the thread search to look through this whole thread for other experiences people have had buying pixel-perfect units from the seller you are looking at. My opinion is that it's a crapshoot no matter who you buy from (as long as the seller is reputable and has good ratings) or how much you paid for the unit, the only major variance is in the time it takes them to ship from their warehouse. Considering this, it makes sense to me to buy the lowest priced unit from a reputable seller at whatever time you are ready to buy. I got my QH270 from ta_planet for $301.50 back in March. I bought a regular unit and it arrived pixel-perfect. I couldn't be happier with it.

Take that extra money and purchase a Squaretrade warranty instead of that shady pixel-perfect. This way you are fully reimbursed if the monitor craps out before the warranty expires.

most of the time the seller isn't checking anything, he is purchasing "pixel perfect" as a special option from the factory. And even then the factory only checks for stuck/bright pixels, not dead ones. But some people who ponied up for pixel perfect were getting stuck pixels anyway. And a majority who did not pony up for pixel-perfect got lucky (as per that poll in the other forum). Most of the sellers are decent btw, till it comes time to make a claim, then some of them will either insist that you pay return shipping, or stall you till the Paypal dispute time-window ends (seller Red_Cap does this). This is why i began recommending Squaretrade warranties over Pixel-Perfect.

Mine shipped out from redcap the day I ordered it and I received it three days later. Still in the process of getting my money back from dhsummer :(

I did not order a pixel perfect version and the monitor does have 3 dead pixels which aren't noticeable to me. Backlight bleed is also very minimal. Loving it!

Note: It comes with a non-US type-c wall plug, but the end of the power supply is universal.

So in the returns info of the monitor, where it says how many days, if it has dead pixels within that time I get full money back no shipping costs or anything?

Finally got around to snapping some pics of my surround setup. Got everything setup last week. All 3 are wall mounted.

Not sure what seller would honor that policy over a few dead pixels, i don't recall any but someone else here may be able to vouch for one (?)
