As i recall he said you needed the newest Win 10 Update to use HDR, plus 1080ti with firmware update, but i don't think he specifically said that you needed it for 144Hz.
Windows 8.1 you living in the stone age?
SDR Variable Backlight. So Fald works on Desktop? What's that like? Interested in of course glow and blooming on Desktop mode, pretty much in low light, like at night or dark room.
But ehh i also don't want to ask you to look for things wrong when you just got it and are trying to enjoy it
More pictures please for SDR and HDR games , Do u think FALD 384 zones + HDR 1000 nits enough to give us perfect black levels on 27'' size ?SDR VB works pretty well in desktop. I need to install W10 on this machine to test out HDR. What I can tell you is the display is incredible.
I spoke with Microcenter today and they said the displays were recalled, has anyone heard anything about this? I'm thinking I was just talking to someone who didn't want to answer questions though and told me to check back in a few weeks. I will check back Friday most likely when they originally said they will have stock. I remember when I got my X34 it was recalled, but I ended up keeping it anyways.
OMG, I just noticed it. Now it can't be unseen.Maybe it was recalled for the upside down G-Sync logo? lol!

Looks like outdated information. As far as I know, the Acer has integrated eye tracking while the ASUS doesn't, and neither of them support ULMB."On top of that, Acer and ASUS include their own monitor features and OSDs; for the actively cooled ROG Swift PG27UQ, this includes Tobii eye-tracking and ultra-low motion blur (ULMB)."

Is it possible ULMB is an ASUS exclusive for this?

ROFL.... I kinda like it....usually I remove stickers, but its growing on me.
That good old Acer QC. Is it a sticker or stamped on?
At least you can say you have a unique first-run monitor!
Hey guys, here is the link to the firmware update to enable G-Sync HDR. Applied to my GTX 1080 last night with no issues. My local Microcenter got 3 of these ins stock, and aside from the price - this is extremely tempting. I hop you can give us some impressions of how this works.

Pics don't do the display justice! But help show haloing is not an issue in game
I think there is a lot of hate for this FALD display over:
1) The Price
2) The FALD
I was one of those who didn't care about the FALD array.....until I used it and saw the greatness of HDR on it!

It looks great, however for me the dealbreaker is the size. I could live with the 27" size for gaming but I want something that can double as a productivity display too. If it was at least 32" I would've been much more tempted.
Two back to back PUBG wins today with the X27. This monitor is great for desktop and bright games/first person shooters but is terrible for dark games. I'll post some more thoughts when I get some time.
4k just hummmmmms!
No.Does this use pwm to control the brightness?
The ASUS rep was saying they were working of the firmware on their version up to the last minute, so I hope the PG27UQ doesn't have these issues. We knew these had active cooling since we first saw them, but I have not seen anyone comment on the fan noise yet. I hope it's not too bad, but I usually game with headphones anyway.Well I found a pretty big flaw with the firmware in the monitor basically making 144 Hz unusable. It may have more repercussions as I do more testing.
The display does not reset the dynamic range between RGB (full/0-255) and YCbCr (limited/16-235). I assume the setting "Auto black level" is supposed to accomplish that in the menu, but it does nothing. That means in 144 Hz mode you are forced to use YCbCr 4:2:2 chroma (limited), so you lose black range (clipping). The "SDR Colors sRGB" selection also doesn't appear to affect the dynamic range. You apparently want to keep that setting "off" in the menu whilst using RGB as with it on it looks washed out and terrible.
The dynamic range bug effects all YCbCr modes in SDR but does not effect HDR. So really you have to use 4K 120 Hz RGB 4:4:4 8-Bit (Full) for all your SDR content.
The monitor chassis very unfortunately also has a clearly audible fan whilst sitting at a normal distance from the display.
You won't notice a difference between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 in motion. You will in static images if you look closely enough, especially with text, so taking pictures to compare is kind of pointless. Depending on what video card you have you're going to have to turn down the detail a lot to hit 140 FPS at 4K. I heard there is supposed to be a 2560x1440 version of these monitors coming out later this year, if you absolutely need to achieve high frame rates.i rly want to buy this screen but i like high hz. so 4:4:4 96hz isnt for me. is there a big difference to 4:2:2 144hz hdr? can anyone give some comparison pics? (want to play bf1 with gsync 144hz hdr and capped to 140 fps, gsync+vsync on)
second question: can you use the monitor with non hdr but fald backlight on for gaming? like the ips with super blacks thing and is there a difference in input lag with fald on?
No.

If the X27 is like the PG27UQ, then yes, the FALD will still operate in SDR. l88bastard or Vega will have to confirm.
Wow, contrast looks better than I was expecting. Those blacks are nice and black, too. Can't wait to get my PG27UQ at the end of the month.
To anyone on the fence about this monitor, DON'T GET IT. This fan is a ticking timebomb. I just got mine today and well, watch the video it says everything.

Ya that is an instant RMA. It is true that fans can last a long time these days, but I am curious to know what happens to the monitor when it fails.
