I attempted to login this afternoon to check on my thread, as well as let a pending deal know that the post office is closed tomorrow in observance of the late President Carter, and he would not be able to ship until Friday.

I received the following that "You have been banned for the following reason. Using FSFT for personal store front."

I reached out to a member whom I was in a pending deal with to find out who I can email/how I can reach out as this is an error.

I am not a Store Front, sell only my personal purchases/items, and have never been a store.

Is there a limit of what you can sell in FSFT? I currently have three (3) items in my FS thread.

I have been a member on [H] for 20+ years, and to me this was a very disturbing accusation.

So, if there are any questions you may have (or whomever), please ask them.

Thank you,
Warren

I'm guessing it's because you don't look to participate in the community from your post history, and post in fsft for years straight. Just my guess.

What areas would I be required to participate in?

Was there a rule change that there has to be participation in other forums, and what is the recommended usage?

I have for over 24+ years been an honest and reliable person to trade with starting with Anandtech in the mid-late 90's and then here on [H]

I just scrolled through your posts quickly by searching your profile. You have not had any content outside of the fs/t forum since 2022, and the majority of what I saw as in 99% from around 2022 onward is all in the for sale forum. I don't know of a hard and fast rule, but I do know other members with similar posting activity were banned for the same reason.

You do have a long standing account, but a few years ago they really took a shift here wanting people posting in the forums who use the fs/t forum. It hsn't been a bad thing honestly. I am sure you can hit the report button and ask a mod to reach out, or you can talk directly to frgmstr etc. I am not a mod by any means but I hope that clears some things up as far as why it was flagged. Probably was not an error.

Roughly a 50:1 ratio of fs/t forum posts to the first post outside there in 2022.

you have 4 pages worth of posts in your history, 95% is in fs/t. youre not participating in the community. its part of the rules.

Yes, I have been active in the FSFT forum. Every 6 months to a year, we cycle upgrades in my household, and I place items for sale to recoup cost.

anywhere, just join in some convos, talk about the new 5090s, whatever but you have to participate.
few years ago after kyle had enough of it. the rules do say that we have to check them and keep up to date as they may change...
its not doubting that.
re-read the main forum and fs/t rules.

hence "personal store front"

I was not aware of this, prior.

Seems kind of harsh to burn people for that honestly.

I haven't hurt or taken advantage of anyone.

well, heck , I better post something, didn't realize you had to post every so often
or get banned !

To be fair, I didn't know about this either. I used to be more active a decade ago on OCC and OCN, but OCC's empty, and OCN is a different beast after their revamp. Then I got out of the hobby when my kids were born, but after finally upgrading my 3970K to a 13600K, feels good to find a forum still active and getting back into overclocking (and undervolting... which seems like a no-go for B660M). Glad to see some old-timers still around, and some younger-uns interested.

does seem kind of harsh...for a long time member I think a warning would be more appropriate...

thats not how it works. the rules state:

"[H]ard|Forum reserves the right to ban any member or limit access to open forums or subscriptions forums at any time without prior notification and without explanation. Also HardForum reserves the right to edit, reprint, distribute, or delete any posting for any reason and without prior notification or explanation to the author.

[H]ard|Forum reserves the right to change the aforementioned rules at any time without warning or notice.

It is the responsibility of the forum member to check this page on a regular basis for any revisions in [H]ard|Forum rules before making any posts to the forum."

i didnt get a warning when i was banned from the new section. but i was polite, i think, and asked to be allowed back and kyle was nice enough to allow it. im sure if op starts participating and then asked, it might happen.

The problem is that if someone had a genuine, organic interest in participating in threads on the forum, then they probably would have been doing it already. If you give someone a "warning", then that might motivate them to create some artificial filler replies to some random threads just to be able to say that they meet some quota, but that isn't really benefiting anyone.

but the current rule where you must contribute in order to post in the FS section is pretty much doing the same thing...forcing a person who might not have a genuine interest in posting to make artificial posts to meet some quota

Yep, and that is often transparent as hell. Those that do so don't last long.

The fsft forum is for active forum members, so if they have no genuine interest in posting, they can move on. When people spam to do it, it's blatantly obvious. This is not a bug it's a feature.
