Accessing shared drive through VPN, folders are blank.

there are several shared folders on a server 2008 box. they are accessible if you are connected locally on the network.

however, if you connect via VPN to server 2008 box, the folders show up empty.

what am i missing?

nevermind, instead of accessing it by typing \\domain and i did \\ipaddress

Is offline files enabled on the machine connecting over the VPN?

Use the FQDN in the \\server.domain.local

If you don't have the domain set on the VPN appliance it sometimes requires fqdn

I just do \\computername
FQDN not needed when DNS is setup properly through tunnels and across WANs.

But OP found issue..yeah, usually IP ranges on different sides of tunnels will be different...hence a literal IP address query from the other side of the wall will end up sending it for some confusion.
