Accessing other computers on a LAN.

I'm having a problem, there are some files on my computer (W7 HP 64) I'd like to let other computers connected to my network get but for some reason when I click on my PC in the other computers network (Vista HP 32) it asks for a user name and password (which as far as I know I shouldn't have) and when I click on that comp it just says something about a network error, please help!

When the other computers are attached but aren't "joined" to your network, it will prompt for local user account credentials on the remote machine. Did you set up your home (I'm assuming it's at home) network so that all clients are connected to the same workgroup/network? Or did you just plug in a machine/connected via wireless, and then browse via Network (Places)?

Also, an exact description or screenshot of the error helps a lot.

disable Password Protected Sharing I think is the option? On the Win7 machine.
