hey there

i just got a super deal on a GF6800pro agp --yea i know i been running around telling people to go pci-express whenever possible--LOL

but i concide this was just too good to let pass--

anyways - my two other 939's were pci-express

so i got this a8vdlx pro asus

i was wondering if this via has any support for the new DC's cpu's ? i doute i'll try one in it --but i haven't seen iny info if via supports them or not ???

i don't think there is any via support for the DC's ?--anyone heard any diffrent ??

From what I heard the dual cores will run on any 939 mobo with just a BIOS update. Haven't heard any qualifications like PCIe only or NV4 chipsets only.

thats cool --you learn something new everyday.

maybe i got a better deal on the asus a8v deluxe than i first thought.

Yeah, the problem that people point to with the X2's and VIA chipsets has to do the with KT880; that chipset was apparently poorly implemented, and they're actually revising the chipset to get the X2's to work. All the KT800 and KT800 Pro boards will function with X2's.

K8T800 and K8T800 pro are fine with bios update
K8T890 is a no-go.

KT880 is a socket A chipset and KT800 doesn't exist lol
