I'm planning on putting a SATA expansion card in the PCI-E 2.0 4x slot as described, but I'm not sure how this will affect the PCI-E 3.0 x8, x8 that I plan for my dual GPU's. Anyone know about the potential impact of such a configuration?

The PCI-E 2.0 x4 link is the black x16 slot on the bottom, not what you circled.

PCI-E 2.0 and PCI-E 3.0 are completely separate bandwidth pools when using Ivy Bridge with Z77/Z75/H77/B75 chipsets. The PCI-E 3.0 x16 link is from the Ivy Bridge CPU. The PCI-E 2.0 x4 & x1 links are from the Chipset PCH.

Right, gotcha, I plan on putting an expansion card into the top PCI-E 2.0 x1 slot. So it will have no effect on the PCI-E 3.0 x8, x8 configuration, I assume.

Correct. By the looks of it, the only slot that shares bandwidth on the P8Z77-V Deluxe is the second PCI-E 2.0 x1 slot with one of the SATA ports.
