Hello
Whenver you guys buy a used display from ebay, how do you claim warranty in it if something breaks?

Lets say the manufacturer's policy is 1 year since date of sale, you buy your display used from a guy who doesn't have his receipt anymore. However, the back of the display says "Manufacturered in August 2006". Would that be enough to claim warranty? The earliest it could have been sold is August last year so there are still a few months left in the warranty?

If you don't have your receipt or the original invoice, you won't be able to do a return or RMA. Manufacturers only grant warranty status on things that have been bought from authorized retailers. Telling them you bought the product from ebay is a good way for them not to honor your warranty. Some mfg's allow you to transfer warranties to another person, but most don't.

So if you don't have the original invoice, or original receipt in this case, the company may not honor the warranty for any such defects in the product.

Some companies validate on the basis of serial #, others require both proof of purchase and the serial #, so it depends on the company for the most part.

has anyone had any experiences with panasonic's 42" plasma's warranties?

if i buy from ebay will they honor it?

it does have a label on the back that says manufactured in august 2006 and the warranty is 2 years...
