When I go to edit it they're showing up as normal but when I save the post I am getting X's. Will wait a bit to see if it clears up. Everything is copied the way I normally do it.

    I hope SmugMug isn't changing stuff... i.e, a paywall.

Maybe it has something to do with the Flickr/Smugmug merge? I dunno

That's the Badlands National Park in South Dakota. It's about an hour away from where I'm stationed right now, so I go there quite a bit. It's not usually that green...lol.

    Interested in Macro?

This is a fantastic deal for a great combo! Marked down from $296.98 to $118.80 (Nikon) $109xx (Canon). Shipping was $22. The adapter without the lighting retails for $200 at B&H.

    https://savageuniversal.com/product...ute_pa_size=nikon-af-series-lenses-compatible

I got the following shot handheld with a D850, 70-200 FL and the adapter without the LED lighting. Entirely not the right lens to be using. My 105mm ED Macro will be here this coming week so I can't wait to give it a try.

No, but we did have to rescue... I shit you not... the "Knot Working" at the end of the day. He was adrift, waiting for BoatTow US, but was gonna hit the rocks before they got there. So he got a tow from a tall ship. :)

nice pic, but IMO, you brought the sky down too much. I'd bump up the whites to bring back the feeling of daylight.

Better, IMO. That dark corner still is way to prominent to my eye, can't stop focusing on it.

Hopefully you don't mind my hack, but I've attached what looks good to my uneducated amateur eye.

Four days in Dallas, but only two shooting opportunities, and only one shot I really walked away happy with.

A few pictures taken with my Mavic Pro Platinum.
It takes very beautiful 4k videos, but I wish the still camera was a bit better. Didn't want to get Phantom or Inspire as those are huge!

Is the first pic post processed by you or it comes like that out of the mavic pro?

BTW I heard a rumor that the upcoming mavic pro will have a 1 inch sensor, that will be quite something

Trying to come up with milky way/astro compositions on the fly is difficult. Hopefully next weekend, the weather will be more predictable and I can do a more set-up shot.

No stacking? Single exposure? Guess I need to upgrade my gear if I wanna do this kinda stuff. :)

B/W definitely more striking; the building on the left makes the image, IMO.

Nope, it's definitely stacked, heh. The foreground is a three minute exposure.

how far away are those mountains? I wonder if you could use a long throw flashlight (some can go around a mile) to light paint the foreground

With the right flashlight you could probably light paint the foreground, but I don't know how good it would look. I wouldn't have time to get far enough away from the camera to make the light not appear straight on-axis unless I had an assistant. I don't personally like the look of a lot of light-painted astro shots...that's not to say it can't work but I think it requires the right foreground interest.

That said, this milky way photography stuff is super addictive. It's crazy the kind of results you can get. I went out again last night (I took today off to take delivery of my new D850...woot!) with my D750. Side note - I think the D750 is actually leagues better than the D800 at this, the high ISO performance seems a lot better. I plan on selling my D750 and D800 to help pay for the D850, but part of me really wants to keep the D750 around. Even four years after release, it's an awesome freaking camera.

Anyway...finally captured a successful milky way pano shot...5 images with the 20mm f/1.8:

    Samyang does have the 14mm f/2.8, 20mm f/1.8, and 24mm f/1.4 lenses...

And this next image is definitely a composite. In fact, the two images taken were a couple hours apart. The first shot was while there was still some light in the sky, so I could stop down and get more of the foreground in focus:

Finally made it to one of the Black Hills' "hidden gems" - though it's not too secret any more. This is also the maiden photo trip for my new D850. And of course, 46 megapixels wasn't enough for me, so I had to do a panorama to boot. Heh.
