Hi Hardforum, been a while since I had something worth posting here. If there's anything better than seeing a 65 ton Abrams tank go flying over a 3 foot berm and firing while airborne I have yet to see it. Definitely the cover of my book this year!

I don't see anywhere where he answered but yes, some do. My firstborn did, my second did not. Roll of the dice.

This is awesome. How long was the exposure? Did you light paint the mountain too or is that blended?

Here is the original unedited version. I edited the same image twice. One edit for the sky and another edit for the mountain range. Then brought the two together in Photoshop. The goal was to capture the milky way in a light polluted sky and bring to life as Phoenix is only 38 miles from this location.

Re-edit this morning (I shouldn't edit as soon as I get home)

Thanks for the explanation. I actually like the first edit more :). Seems to have a more softer light, which match the star light.

Still on a Canon XTI. When will canon start supporting 4k video at a reasonable price cause I'm itching to upgrade. This fellow and his partner have been hanging out in my backyard. You should have seen him and his buddy get after a squirrel. Great entertainment!

Cropped, touched up the eyes, added some warmth. 55-250 @ 250.

JStamsek That mountain pic might be one of my faves ever, wow!

I've never been super impressed with the quality I was getting out of the 80-400. That changed Saturday with the Ocean City Air show. Combo of D500 and the 80-400 was INCREDIBLE. Very happy with how these came out. Only half edited so far, Blue Angels and F-22 Raptor to follow.

First attempt at star trails. Still a a lot of trial and error attempts before I get it right.

northrop - Nice star trails. Those are clean. I just would like to see the windmill not blown out. All in all I like it.

Daggah - That's a clean image! Did you do any blending?

I was up in Sedona yesterday. Cooling off in Oak Creek Canyon.

Yeah, there's some foreground image averaging going on that ends up functioning as noise reduction.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to shoot with fellow [H] member Anh N.

Hit up the Salt River and the Superstition Mountains. Here's one from the Salt River.

Thanks. These were from a plane with a heater, but we landed somewhere around 9000ft. It was surprisingly warm there too, maybe 40 degrees.
