Why would I want one of these if I already have an 8800GT?

Seems to me this card isn't as good? 64 stream processors compared to the 8800GT's 112.

Is there something else I am not seeing?

The price difference? And who is telling you to trade in your 8800gt for it?

Nobody, I am just curious about the differences of the card and if this is something I should think about upgrading to, but it doesn't seem like that is the case.

can't wait til XFX comes out with some sexy black PCB 9 series cards

What do these even offer? It doesn't look like they even have DX10.1.

They are in different segments of the market. The 8800gt is suppose to be mid-high end while the 9600gt is suppose to mid range. It wont be an upgrade.

Saw a review on this one yesterday... wow. What $200 gets you today (AMD or Nvidia) is very nice!

Competition rox!

9600GT = slower than 8800GT

But WAY faster than mid tier in the 8xxx family.

Still overpriced pretty badly IMO. This is a ~100 dollar segment card. Just gouged because its new.

It is worth about $150 to me. It's about the same speed as $170 video cards.

At $180 (+ tax at newegg) I can get an 8800GT elsewhere for about the same price w/o sales tax.

I think its an upgrade to the 8600 GT ;) thats not a 9800 :rolleyes:

I think I will stick with my dual 7900GS cards for now.
