A Fleet Of Trucks Just Drove Themselves Across Europe

Pretty cool, although the system for trucks in Europe seems to be a bit more regulated than over here in the States. They're governed at a certain speed and forced to their own lane to far right.
It probably sucks for their drivers, but it makes normal passenger vehicle travel much easier.

seems to make sense. the only potential problem is if one truck is travelling under the speed. Then it causes the others to get backed up.

As long as every truck is moving along in the same lane at the same speed, not a problem.

I get pretty frustrated when a big semi cuts into the left lane only to pass another truck by increasing it's speed to 2mph faster than the slow truck. Takes forever for him to pass the "slow" truck.

Neat. But police escorts blocking off traffic and taking a week?

Not quite there yet.

Least in New Jersey, trucks, buses, and commercial vehicles (non passenger trunks) are not permitted in the left passing lane. As you travel to North Jersey, I believe they have truck lanes.

<start rant> In NJ, the left lane is meant for just "passing" cars only. If only PA drivers would learn this rule it would make driving much better. I hate when they travel in the left lane cruising at 45mph in a 65mph zone when they should be in the middle or better yet the right lane. I focused more on PA drivers because they tend to travel over here during the summer while heading to the shore. I just hope the construction they are doing on 76/295/42 helps with the congestion <end rant>

Driverless freight delivery... How about using trains instead. Less wasted fuel and trafic jam.

Tennessee just pass a "slow poke law" that tickets people driving slow in the passing lane. Don't now how many times I would get behind someone doing 50 or 55 in the passing lane on the interstate when the limit is 70. I would be behind them; would flash my head lights, if no response beep the horn and they would shoot the bird. Now they can enjoy a nice fat ticket for being such an ass. People that drive way below the limit is much more dangerous that ones that drive above the limit. NOW if they would just start writing tickets for the lazy slobs that won't use their turn signals. :cautious:

It is a pretty funny production.

Starting about 51:40 the announcer guys get pretty nervous about them being too close to the trucks...

And at 54:45 a woman sings a song from Sound of Music

The beginning of the end for the truck driving profession... at least in its current form. Think about it... the trucks do the bulk of the interstate highway drivng, and they get picked up in giant yards for the last leg of their journey. No more cross country hauling... just a bunch of under 100 mile runs per day.
