It's time to replace the old 9600Pro 128Mb card for something better, I have about $350 coming in from a tax return so I could afford the X800XL, but on the other hand I would like a new hdd and another 512Mb stick of ram.

If I go with the 5900xt 256Mb card, the hdd and the ram I will spend as much as I would on just the X800XL, but what would the perfomance gap be?
Is the difference bigger between the 9600 and the 5900 then between the 5900 and the x800?
I can't find any articles that matches these cards in real world situations, just the usual 3DMark rubbish and overclocking dreams. I intend to run the equipment at stock speeds.

My system is composed of an A64, 512Mb ram, sata drive etc and I'm only looking at AGP cards.

350$
best bet would be to get a 6600gt - $200
hd 120/160gb - like $90
and a pdp pc3200 512mb - 60$
total $350 :)

What's your current ram / hdd ?
Like the above poster... I'd rather get the 6600 GT if you're going to spend money on a budget card right now. Even the 9800 pro (for a little cheaper than the 6600 GT)... just not the 5900 XT.

Current ram is a 512Mb stick of Kingmax pc3200 2,5cl ram (I'm gonna buy another one if I decide to go that route) and the hdd is a Maxtor Diamondmax Plus9 80Gb (I think.. :).

Are there any good articles/reviews of the 6800le,6600,x800? I get finding shitty ones! :(

Thanks,
Mange

You can do a 6800NU + mem + 120GB HDD for a few bucks over $350...
