So what will it feel like? I just picked up one from microcenter for 269.99 and asus z97 ar for 105. Going from a 920 i7 at 3.5. I do game and have a 780ti scored 9980 on fire strike. This new sys will have 32gb ballistix and triple SSD.

Just curious what to expect. Had all parts except mobo and CPU so this total project with tax came out to 426.05. Cheap upgrade IMHO.

huge upgrade even at stock clocks in the 4790K.. you can expect in general gaming about 30-40% of increased performance depending on the game.... firestrike even if its not a realistic traduced into gaming performance the bump of your actual score to a stock 4790K its about 30% as they generally score 12500-14000 in physics.. in general multimedia performance the performance its just huge as for example in cinebench which its a pretty good indicative of media work a 4790K at 4.5ghz simply score twice as a 920 at 4.0ghz..

so yes, you will be have a good performance bump..

Hehehe feel like a kid in the candy store, can't wait to build it tomorrow!!!

Depending on your x58 board you could of dropped a Xeon 6 core in it for $60 to 140 depending on which model you wanted..

My x5660 at 4.2Ghz score 14000+ physics in firestrike and pushs a single hd7950 to 7421 at stock clocks,, http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2690463

X58 can still kick azz..

i just picked up the rampage II X58, do you know if it will run the g core chips,

PS< you did a very nice upgrade, i love my 4790k and msi Z97

top notch move!

best regards/steve

I have a Rampage II Gene, you will need to make sure you're running the latest BIOS (1701)
