The cost per TB is better than the 10TB deal for $180 (18$/TB) vs this $16.25/TB.

I just picked up the last 4 I needed to fill out my NAS (these are the WD white shuckables).

I was optimistic for $140 during cyber Monday or the days of xmas deals, this is even better.

Damn, I just picked up the 4tb drive a few weeks back when it was $84. Should have waited. Hell of a deal.

Check your return allowance alot of the stuff bought in Nov. is returnable until February for holiday return period special.
They often will price match rather than do a return/rebuy.

Girlfriend bought one of these. She nearly bought a 6tb for $99 yesterday but missed the sale when I had my headphones on and didn't respond to her.

$140 with tax.

Told her these RED NAS were much better drives. She has been complaining about needing more space for 2 years lol.

helium?

I'm waiting for it to hit their ebay store and 15% to negate sales tax

or maybe newegg will pricematch on a mybook etc.

Damn, need to figure out a way to snag that 6th drive, my FreeNAS rig is at 73% capacity and the closest BB is an hour away.

Great price, but I picked up nine when they were $160. I'll wait for the 12tb drives to be in a comparable deal, and upgrade my 4tbs next.

I”m probably set for several years on drives. Probably should have waited till today to get a few of them.

Well that's kind of stupid. They limit you to 5 per order so I went back and placed another order for an additional drive and it went through. Kind of defeats the purpose limiting you to 5 drives when you can just place another order for more. Oh well at least I've got my 6 new drives on their way.

Yeah I did three orders of three with my orders. I don't really get why they do it this way if there's nothing stopping you from placing another order.

Doesn't seem like they care that much generally, but if they have stock issues it gives them the ability to cancel some is the only thing I can think of.
You could buy 5 and then pickup whatever is local just as easily.

Oh? I thought Best Buy had some archaic 14 day return window.

They do, but during the holidays its extended.
Holiday extended window is til January 12th I think, Elite/elite plus get a extra 30 days into February.

BB wouldnt price match me because of the black Friday block on price matching. However I had one 8TB drive unopened of the two I bought.

The rep let me return it for $165, and buy it for $130, then return it again for $165, and then buy it for $130. (End result 2 drives bought for 130 vs 165)

Oh that's crazy. Same drive returned twice because you had two? Never heard of that.

i just shucked mine that I got yesterday and it was the older red efax drive! I went to order another one just now and sadly the deal was dead. :(

Not a huge hinderance overall just a 128 instead of 256gb cache, you can check on the bottom of the box without opening if its from Thailand, those are the 256gb cache drives. The china ones are the efax, (most of the thailand ones are white label now)

Theres no way I’m aware of to predict if its a red or white when made in Thailand before opening and doing CDI.

Edit: You might be able to wait till a local store has them in stock and see if they might let you exchange.

I would'nt be surprised if the deal is back tomorrow for cyber Monday or atleast near christmas.

I'd be suprised if they were this low again for a while though.
I'm guessing we'll see the standard $150 maybe a $140 during a days of Christmas deals.

dead everywhere now until maybe post-xmas end-of-year clearance but 8tb/10tb isn't actually clearance stuff

Just got my first one today and shucked it and it's a EFAX Red as well. It says 256MB cache on it and bottom label on the box says Thailand. Can't wait to see what the other 5 end up being, they just shipped yesterday.

Nice luck then, good luck with the others, my 4 arrive tomorrow.

Yeah the best part is this. ;)

Code:
22 Helium_Level 0x0023 100 100 025 Pre-fail Always - 100

Surprisingly it is down to $140 already. $10 from the once a year historic low is not bad.

Nice, my guess for the $140-150 was based off the best deal ($140) last year being during the days of Christmas doorbuster deals.
I got all 12 drives for my NAS propagated now so I'm not really watching them anymore in fact I'm 2 hours away from it finishing expanding the pool :D.

last year they hit the "low price" for the season twice during the run-up to Christmas.

Grabbed another today. White label 256mb cache EMAZ. Unraid will be up to 34TB.

Well if they go down again, just price match (though that may only work if you havne't opened the box, since I believe that the pricematch window is different than the return window (for xmas).

Even if you open it, you should be able to return/rebuy or exchange it is just more of a hassle than simply bringing the receipt in and pricematching. Its not like their return policy goes away during the holiday season.
