I think I would have went with a 5850 if the 5870 was more than you wanted to spend. Either way, it's a significant upgrade and you got a pretty good deal on it.

I recently purchased an ASUS HD 4890 for $140 to upgrade from my 8800GT - good move? I was thinking I would wait until 5870 prices came down a bit.
