I spent many hours researching and bought a dell 2407 rev04 because it had the option to do 1:1 (I had an x1900xtx) and could not stand the stretched screen when playing.

I then got a good deal on the x1900xtx and read that nvidia's drivers support 1:1 scaling and decided to get an 8800 gtx.

Got the card today great improvement in speed etc.

Now the screen is stretched again for bf2142. Something about the drivers on the 8800 don't work properly?

Can this be correct? This is cannot be true.

I bought both under the understanding that 1:1 scaling works....

Please help.

Doesn't BF2142 support widescreen resolutions?

Switch BF2142 to use whatever the max resolution for the 2407 is and you should be fine.

Also you can find the scaling options under "Flat Panel Settings" in the nvidia control panel.

No BF2 and BF2142 do not support widescreen.
You can put a cmd line in the shortcut and get it to cut the top and bottom off, but you will see less on screen and the FOV will be the same.

After much frustration and mumbled profanity - I found drivers that work. 96.98. (the driver was zipped up at guru3d.com)

It allows you to make the black bars on the side so you can play 1600 x 1200 for your Dell 24 inch rev 04.

I googled and found a thread about the 8800 and found a working link to the driver.

It allows you to save your settings on the Nvidia Control Panel. The correct setting is 'allow display to scale'.

Then set your resolution to something other than 1900 x 1200 (say 1600 x 1200 like I did).

Then go to your display (24inch lcd) and adjust the setting to 1:1. After this go into bf2142 and set your video setting to 1600 x 1200 and exit.

Go back to desktop and change your setting to 1900 x 1200 the native resolution.

From now on, when you log in the desktop will be at 1900 x 1200 by any other resolutions you set will come up when gaming.

in both BF2 and 2142, add the following text to your hyperlink on the desktop: "+szx 1440 +szy 900" without quotes obviously, and your own reso of choice

while this does stretch the view a bit, you wont have to look at blurred out of resolution pixels anymore
