No kidding, was making about $6k/mo at the start, granted, scrypt mining then. Now, after electric and current BTC rates, around $750-900/mo. I could never do the whole ASIC route though... at least with video cards and general computer components, you have other purposes outside of mining, let alone a good shot of using them for whatever future algo comes about.
