And the odd duck out. 7800x3d makes sense and so does the 7950x3d if you need it. But the 7900x3d and windows scheduling issues that I am pretty sure still require the Xbox game bar to work properly…yea no.

Spring for the 7950x3d or if purely gaming the 7800x3d and spend the money elsewhere on the build.
7950X3D has all the same considerations.

7900X3D is a fine CPU which offers a more affordable option for more than 8 cores and 3rd best gaming.

Or it’s a cpu that requires extra software for it to be fully utilized, and has come issues still with Linux compatibility. Just want people to be aware.

But anyone who does any amount of research should immediately see that.

The Core Parking issues for the 7900X3D and 7950X3D is easily resolved with 2 methods.
#1. Set CPPC to Driver in BIOS
#2. Use DDU or Revo Uninstaller when uninstalling graphics drivers (which people should be doing, anyway).

For step #2 it's Revo uninstaller for AMD chipset drivers, not graphic drivers, as that has the amd3dvache service.
I don't have a 7900X3D or 79050X3D, but out of curiosity I looked it up.
Normally don't watch Jayz videos, but his was the only relevant one that popped up and did a good job on the issue.

That's what I meant, I'm just used to using them for my graphics drivers, not chipset drivers. There's other workarounds as well, such as using Project Lasso, but yeah, the Jayz video actually had a fix.

Just like literally every new CPU released by Intel and AMD for the last 30 years ends up needing some sort of software update to take advantage of some new features. It just so happens that in this case nobody has released an out of band OS update for it yet.

Otherwise it's a perfectly viable solution that won't make your machine slower, and if you know what you're doing will make it faster.

When i brought this up with hte I7 9xx series people said i was crazy
when i brought it up about the ryzen CCX issue. people accused me of being a fanboy on this very forum.
years later.. finnaly people can see what i saw decades ago.

I had to make my own software for it though. and people would rather fanboy rage than get the 20% fps boost in some games from simply managing thread allocation the right way.

Price seems.... more unstable than uncle Jack talking about the mole people
but look at that prior 240 bucks price point....

I couldn't resist, 7950x3d for $430 is too good to pass up. Didn't want the heat and didn't want different cores but to hell with my plans. CPU performance going up nearly 3x, L3 going up 6.5x. That is so much horsepower for the money.

I think you're gonna love it!

**and the price is temporarily dead!

Price is back at $430 as I type this. The game bundle for me really adds as I was going to pickup Space Marines 2 anyway. Basically feels like $370 for a 7950x3d to me and that's crazy. The 7800X3d was over $400 two days ago. For the price difference a person could just disable the non-vcache cores in the BIOS to not deal with core parking shenanigans.
