thank you

I have little idea what the 800-series chipsets will be since not much information has been released. Especially for the one fact that 800-series chipset boards are not on market yet to my knowledge.

And, since you mentioned 790 GX versus 890 GX, I am going to assume the 890 will be a low-end, integrated 5000-series GPU compared to a Radeon 3300 GPU in the 790 GX, or a Radeon 4200 GPU in the 785 G.

So, it probably boils down to whether you want DX11 or not in your HTPC, or better performance over a 3300 or 4200 GPU. That's assuming the 890 GX will include a 5000-series GPU. And, going by Wikipedia, there will supposedly be support for SATA 6 Gb/s on the southbridge.

And, of course, it's all speculation right now because more information about the chips have not been released yet.

Just FYI, you're not getting a 5 series IGP on the 890GX, it's still a DX10.1 4250 IGP so no bitstreaming HD audio or DX11 not that it would run anything in DX11. What you'll get is SATA 6 and USB 3.0 support.

The 800 series chipset has SATA 6GB/s int. in it, and USB 3.0 seems like it will be a standard on them, so I say 890GX.

At this point I wouldn't suggest getting a board w/o USB 3.0 and SATA 6GB/s because they are becoming mainstream and you'd end up upgrading in a few months.
