Yeah the BB here's usually a let down (no stock, super crowded, salesppl have trouble thinking) I don't doubt these deals exist but I wait until I have 2 or more reasons to go out before driving to the store

My roommates and I just ripped open 3 of these bad boys. They are Seagate Barracuda's.

Part Number: 9NG6AR-570

They carry the same 5 year warranty using the warranty checker! These are a complete bitch to open, but there are plusses. You can start either by taking off the base and disconnecting everything (then prying side off) or you can just pull off the right side with a lot of force.

The sides consist of a Aluminum cover glued to a plastic casing that is clipped on the inside. Underneath that you have the hard drive which is enclosed in a aluminum coffin which you can just bend or slide off more or less.

The awesome thing about it is, you can salvage the bottom part for an external esata connector!

damnit... i really want this to go with my new HDBits account :(

wanna know if its worth driving to northgate, southcenter, bellevue

No to all 3... :(

Everett was the only promising one @ $161...

I didn't bother going though, even at $161 it's not terrible... but not great either...

Just got back from South Elgin IL store. They had none on the shelfs and had a tag of 169.99 on sale I believe. The 500's were showing sale price of 199.99

I'm going to head over in a few minutes.

I hope they don't pull the "oh, that's last week's sale" on me like they did last time.

Went to BB in Anderson, SC and were marked for $161 so I had them check other stores in the district and one 20 minutes away had 2 in stock but the manager refused to price match and when I called the other store they said they couldn't find them :(

no luck Pittsburgh.. $268.99 on Sale!

They're either $53 or $161 at every store I checked, and I checked quite a few. You must have talked to a lazy/clueless clerk. A few Pittsburgh stores quoted me prices around $260 initially. I had to push them a bit before they would bother to find the correct sale price.

I wasn't able to get any at $53 but I did buy a couple for $161. Managers all refused to pricematch even to stores 10 miles away.

Has anyone tried returning and rebuying at a store that has the good price?

What about buying at $161 and waiting until the price drops to $53 at that same store?

You should be able to do that, I just did it with a Rocketfish Case, was on sale for $72, then dropped to $48.. 2 weeks later, I didn't even have my receipt... just debit card... although I recommend keeping the receipt obviously

And if it doesn't drop to $53, you can just return them and lose nothing...

$161 at my local BB in Portsmouth, NH

They said that each store can mark down closeout items based on stock & how long they've been sitting there.

they are out there at $53.99 - if you call a store in your area, ask the person to check the inventory in the surrounding area for that price. I was able to get 3 stores, unfortunately they were sold out. However, one of the store is getting 16 in stock this week @ $53.99

I thought I was gentle lol.

All in all we will be stripping down 10 of these puppies. This was some desperately needed storage for me as I have 2TB filled completely (Like 300mb left before these drives).

edit: 5 done, 5 to go.

Have you gone to the seagate website to see if the warranty works for just the drive? I think seagate has a place where you enter the serial number to see if the warranty is still valid.

Do not know if anyone has posted this.

Woodlands (north of Houston, Texas) is 100% out. I went and the Best Buy RSS feed stated they had 10, I got there and the RSS only had five left but none to be found. I attempted to have some BB guys look around in the back but they said they could not find them.
