basically, two cards in 1..QUAD SLI YA BABY!

the card was announced yesterday
http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=195

all i can say, is those are some long ass cards and this should deffinetly beat a 512mb GTX..and @ $150 less

o, and the wierd thing is the announcment is for 2x 512 cards (you heard me friggin right, that would mean that in sli you'd have 2gb of video ram - while this is 2x256 card)

on a humorous sidenote, newegg has a 2x256 GT card for close to $900

so dell really has come through..and through the use of COUPONS..you can bring the price down even more as usual

i wonder if a low profile maze4's would work on this card

oh, and for those of you wondering what's the point of all this?
here's your answer: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...ategory_id=4009

also, guys check out the video of dell's intro..featuring this card in a SLI setup and a strait up crazi pc with a factory oc'd pent D to 4.26ghz

Once again, let me be the first to say:

While there is 2gb of video memory divided between the 4 cards... effectively there is a 512 Mb buffer. The engines do not share the memory, each one has to store a copy of the textures being used.

I think there was a 7800gtx card with two cores on it. Not sure who makes it.. maybe gigabyte or asus.

Also, there is a gigabyte board with 4 pci express slots. I wonder if it's possible to get 8 cores using that motherboard.

kinda pointless though :)

The OP's link to the dell website shows me a 7800GTX (256MB) for the cheap price of 699.00. Either it really has dual cores, each with 128MB or it is just a plain vanilla 7800GTX.

I seem to be totally missing the point of this thread...

...where the *&%$ is the hot deal anway?

umm.. 2x 7800gtx in one for $700 decent deal imo
and when the coupons come it'll get even better

It might not be for most of us but two 7800GTX cards would cost more than $700 so if you're gonna get two and SLI them this is cheaper. And if you can do it with out having to buy an SLI board it's even better. Definitly way more than I'd ever pay for a video card but there are people out there that want the best of the best.

well, the first thing is that I didn't notice the "dual" 256mb description, so I thought it was a pointless thread in the first place that was talking about a new technology but linking to some regular priced gtx for a lappy. That was my bad.

but, tbh, this kind of thread doesn't really belong in the "hot deal" section. It's not a hot deal. It may be something you are looking for or I am looking for, but there is no savings to be had here. It's just a link to a new product. Stuff it in the vid card discussions where it belongs

I certainly hope people don't start linking to newly released products and wasting our time in the hot deal section. I look in here when I want to buy something at a deal price, not retail that just happens to be exciting news. Should I go start a thread on the release of the 512mb gtx?

"Look, a new video card. It's full retail price, but just think of all the performance you will get when you link a bunch of them together...and just think of how cheap it will be when some coupons come out in the future...what a HOT deal!"

Not a true quad solution... kinda pontless for anyone who dodesn't want to waste tons of case space. Just like another poster mentioned, you can get the dual video cards already but on a single pcb and much smaller. Also, true quad sli utelizes 4 pcie slots and not two.

PS that link for $699 is dells basic 7800gtx that they put in their workstations. Also, SLI does not combine memory of cards... think of 4 semi trucks each with a max speed of say 100mph... 4 of them will not go 400mph... they will top out at 100mph but be able to handle 4 times the load.

Here is my technical take on this...

I think this is great if you can afford it but I would like to test it. Does anyone know if a single GTX will utilize the entire PCI-E x16 bus? If not then there is room for more data. Now is there room for 4 cards worth of data I couldnt say.

Lets find some coupons and get this down to $600 then :D :D :D. I know there isn't any savings right now but even so if someone was about to get 2 7800gtx's this would save them some money so it's I think it's worth having here.

Any working links to this?? I am betting on it being misprint because I dont see there being a dual GTX card with only 256 megs...

one question... how does the card attached to the back get air to cool the core... looks totaly fake if you ask me.... oh and it wont be cheap, asus' dual core 7800gt on a single board is $900+

This isn't even the correct card for sale.
