If your talking about the 980TI cards that may be so but they haven't been as high as they are now for quite some time. They were getting pretty low after rebate here recently and even their pre rebate price was much lower then it is now. Some of the cards still aren't priced bad while others are insanely overpriced.MSRP = $699
Ncix.ca has them listed as in stock. Only ones are the +100.00 $ founders, not any of the AIB designs. 909.99 $ Cdn,which is nuts!
Which is too bad and too much. My Fury X and Nano run everything I play perfectly right now. Pamela or Cyberpunk 2077 might change that, next year,maybe.... I doubt it. I play at 1080 and 1440,but mostly with a HMD,when home.
Yea us Canadians get among the worst hardware pricing just as bad as Australia's pricing for hardware. If you think NCIX's listing is bad enough you should see Canada Computers whopping $999.99 (without taxes of course) preorder price.
Not when you have Canada Computers selling it for $999.99. Our Canadian dollar isn't that bad to make such a huge markup and it's Canada Computers that is ridiculous to do such a thing at this time.

With the eCONomy in the toilet worldwide,I don't think the 1080 will be a high demand item. Both my Sig Fury and Nano were open box from NCIX with big markdowns,I would never pay msrp. People are getting laid off, left, right and center, near everywhere.
I don't get whats sickening about the Canadian price? As someone else mentioned, that is the conversion of 700 USD to CAD... in fact its slightly less.. that converts $911 CAD.
The conversion is whats sickening.
What is hilarious is we've got like, a dozen AIBs selling an exactly identical card. I wonder how they are going to differentiate, or are we just going to get a dozen cards with the same price and exact same specs/build?
I think what our northerly neighbors are saying is that the $909 price is based on a rather bogus exchange rate. And they are probably right.
While the canadian dollar is in the toilet -- look at it this way... you get shafted on computer parts - but you guys can go to the doctor anytime/anywhere and not wind up having to dig into savings accounts or take out a home equity loan to pay medical bills. Give and take... if a hobo attacks your face with an axe... you can get it taken care of quick and cheapNot so here in the US.
I missed the part in modern US history where people without insurance were unable to get medical care in emergencies... Could they get prescription drugs, therapy and messages? No... But they got medical care when it was needed, always.
"As reported by the Health Council of Canada, a 2010 Commonwealth survey found that 42% of Canadians waited 2 hours or more in the emergency room, versus 29% in the U.S.; 43% waited 4 weeks or more to see a specialist, versus 10% in the U.S. The same survey states that 37% of Canadians say it is difficult to access care after hours (evenings, weekends or holidays) without going to the emergency department over 34% of Americans."
The Uninsured: Access To Medical Care // ACEP
The "Affordable Care Act" is nothing more than an attempt by the government to try to lower the costs of healthcare by forcing the uninsured to pay for insurance or pay a fine.... Its solely for the benefit of insurance companies and hospitals, nothing else (basically giving them more money on the hopes that they will be honest and lower their costs)... The plan gave no damns about lowering the costs of healthcare by perhaps lowering the costs of prescriptions, allowing price-shopping and cross-state competition, or one of the many solutions that wouldnt cost the American Citizens (things thankfully both Trump and Sanders are proposing)...
Ignorance is at an all time high in the US, and trendy catch phrases like "healthcare for all" seem to matter more than actual details. *sigh*
I literally saw someone on TV today get upset at someone for using the term "those people" when refering to a group of protesters that had an extremely diverse ethnicity and gender... You cant even talk about groups of mixed race/sex people any more because catch phrases and being 'politically correct' matter to people more than anything...
I am saddened by my fellow countrymen/women who have no concern for real details and information, and instead want to champion catch phrases and 'causes' that make them feel morally superior...
Lets all aspire to be like Canada, with their tanking economy, $910 1080s, and mediocre everything! right?

Newegg, Promotions - Newegg.comInteresting right before the cards go live on Newegg the selection on the left for the 1000 series cards isn't even there anymore. My original link in the OP yields these results:

When 5150Joker and I agree on something, you know it's damn well true! We've been through this with Nvidia a few times now. Just wait for the Ti version. Paying $700.00 for the x80 version is nuts.
No they said 6 AM PT on the 27th...I saw Nvidia tweet they will go up at 6PM PDT. But i have no idea what store they are referring to.
