6970 crossfire bridge on 7970s causes flickering

So just spent the better part of of two nights troubleshooting my two Sapphire 7970s, because whenever I would run a 3d game in full-screen with crossfire enabled, I would get massive flickering all over the screen until I quit the games.

So, I've been using the MSI Lightning crossfire bridge the whole time thinking they are all the same, and just for the hell of it I swapped on the included crossfire bridge from sapphire and now everything works fine.

Did they change something on the card to make all my crossfire bridges unusable if they aren't 7970 specific?

i don't think so but its possible there could of been something wrong with the bridge and only started when added the extra bandwidth from the 7970's. but who knows maybe they did beef up the 7970 crossfire bridge for that exact reason.
