Newly installed 680i works fine running @ 10x multiplier. I am new to the board and am not familiar with all of the options available for OC'ing. My E6700 healthy OC limit is 3.5 ghz @ 1.52 v. I can go higher but need to up voltages and don't care to atm. Temps are 50C max under Orthos Blend, idle 35C-45C depending on Ambient.

I have tried a few times to boot up at 8x multiplier in order to increase the FSB speed. After a few failed boots ( wouldn't post ) I assumed I had a messed up board or I didn't know what I was doing in regards to settings. Since I am stable @ 3.5 ( Orthos Blend no erros after 24hrs ) I assume I am missing a valuable setting or combination of settings in order to boot at a lower multiplier to run at a higher fsb.

The following is a list of the current settings I have in bios based upon some OC advice from users and guides. I am not even sure if the 680i can run a lower multiplier in unlinked mode, I assumed it could. If any 680i owners can look at these settings and give me some hints or tips it would be greatly appreciated. Thnx in advance.

Limiters:

CPU Thermal Control - disabled
C1E Enhanced Halt State - disabled
Intel Speedstep - disabled
All Spread Spectrums - disabled
Execute Disabled bit - enabled
System Bios Cacheable - disabled
HPET - enabled

Nvidia GPU EX Enabled PCIe Auto = 125 Linkboost
Linkboost Enabled SPP - MCP Ref Clock Auto = Linkboost 250

10x Multiplier , 1400 FSB 3.5 ghz
HT multipliers 5x
Unlinked mode - memory @ 800 4-4-4-12 2T ( stable )

Voltages

CPU = 1.55 v ( bios reads 1.52 , lowest completely stable voltage at this speed for this chip )
CPU FSB = 1.5 v
mem = 2.15 v
nforce SPP = 1.5
nforce MCP = 1.5
HT nforce SPP - MCP = 1.55

If I change the multiplier to 8x it won't boot with the above settings in unlinked mode.

mybe reset the bios and or reflash it. Theres not much reason why the 680i will not boot at stock everythig at 8x
