Ok, I have a 6800gt that I have had for months, I have had nothing but stuttering.

The now becoming famous stutter as noted in just a fraction of threads:

I have tried everything to try to stop it, and it just won't.
I seriously think it is a hardware problem between the nf3 and 6800gt.

What I want to let you know that this combination was horrible for me compared to the x800pro. It was fast as shit, but just stuttered taking all of the reality out of the game. The x800pro plays every game that I had problems smooth as butter. The only setback that I have seen is not being able to play doom3 @ ultra high, which was borderline on the 6800gt, but playable.

Lastly, AA. I don't care what anyone says. Image shots seem to show them pretty equal, but in game, 4xAA on the x800 is still unbeatable. A couple of times when playing on the 6800gt I actually had to drop to desktop just to make sure that I had it because of the jaggies.

This is not saying that the 6800gt is a bad card, it's actually an awesome card and I think that it would put the x800pro to shame on other systems. But just not mine, and many others with the nf3 chipset.

Just a heads up for you guys thinking about your upgrade paths. I'm going to hold onto the 6800gt until there is a fix out. It plays nice on my nf2 system. Just doesn't push the frames like the a64 system.

I love the hell out of my 6800gt, but it's going to have to take a back seat for a while.

I hope this helps you guys out. Now, off to change the sig.

Well, that's good to know. I bought an x800 pro vivo and flashed it. I've been happy with it, but I've never seen the latest from nvidia to compare to. I didn't really have a choice, as the nvidia card is just too large for my case. You don't often have unbiased users that have used both competing products.

Ive been thru an X800 Pro and 6800Ultra and can say that the ultra is the better choice hands down. I had a non vivo x800 pro and this is why I disliked it so much.

i have a k8n neo2 plat (nf3 ultra) and havent had any stuttering issues.... before cpu upgraded I i had it in an a7n8x-x (nf2) and had no stuttering issues either....

I'm running a Via K8T800 chipset, and have stutters too with the 6800GT (actually had, sold the card last week). They were not thát annoying as in your case, but they were there once in a while. This issue ain't there with my X800Pro@XTPE.

I don't hear many people complaining about stuttering who have a 6800Ultra, would it be the extra molex that solves it?

Yea i have no stuttering at all. I guess it requires all that power for a reason! Great card, no troubles, recommend it to anyone with the cash.

I had a buddy who had an NF3 and stuttering, he upgraded his mobo bios, formatted, installed latest nforce drivers and it went away

I have tried the format, and the bios flash, hopefully a future bios flash will do the trick.

just an update, I have compared the 4xaa on the gforce card and the x800pro, side by side and when moving, the ati solution is definitely superior. I can notice the difference between 2xaa and 4xaa on the geforce, so I know its working, but something about x800pro clears the edges up to present a better picture.

Care to post a screenshot?

It's nothing that can be seen in a screenshot, I have looked at screenies between the x800pro and the 6800gt for hours and can say that they are identical. It's when in motion that the jaggies really stand out on the 6800gt.

I have to disagree. My friend has a 6800GT and has trouble with his 6800GT and jaggies. Msot of the time, 2xAA is plenty for him.

It might just be me, maybe I'm just used to ati's I have been through a 9500pro, 9700pro, and a 9800pro in which I didn't see one difference in image quality. But yet something about the 6800 is different. Like I said, it's probably just me. But I have been looking at AA since the voodoo5500 so my eyes are pretty keen.

Its probably just the placebo effect. I wouldnt say that image quality is much different.
