6800GT Slow 2D performance?

I just got my Leadtek 6800GT today. I had been running 1600x1200 on my desktop with my 9700 perfectly fine. Since I switched to the 6800 I have noticed that the "redraw" is very noticeable. In other words, when I scroll down in IE or open/close apps, you can litteraly see the scan from top to bottow of the update to the screen. I never noticed this with my 9700. Are 6800s slow in Windows? The 3D performance is stellar (even though, I am having some cooling issues )

Has anybody else noticed this or do I possibly have a defective card?

All old ati drivers gone?

Does this happen with the card at stock speeds too?


I get this to an extent on my card...

As for the old ATI drivers, I simply went to safe mode and removed them.

Yes, I do get the same affect when at stock speed.

As much as I would hate to...should I wipe my system and start over?

Sounds like a driver issue...I had the same thing going from a 9800 to a 6800GT but it went away after I formatted and started fresh.

unistall the GFX drivers using an Nvidia removal tool.

do the same for the Ati ones as well, reeboot, then reinstall the Nvidia drivers..

You have some old files still in the system corrupting it at the moment, which is why you have the scrolling issue
