I found some dual channel memory I want 32GB (2x16GB) for $120 and planned to buy another kit later for 64GB.

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15D-32GVR - Newegg.com 32GB (2x16GB) $120
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Intel Z170 Platform / Intel X99 Platform Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-64GVR - Newegg.com 64GB (4x16GB) $245

Is there actually any difference buying two identical 32GB kits vs one 64GB kit? Looks like you would save $5 buying the 2 32GB kits to me.

The difference is that all the modules will be guaranteed to work together without issue. I think it partially stems from slightly different XMP profiles? Not sure. However it's not important and in every other way the modules are identical and should work just fine.

With that in mind, I was going to say get the 32GB kits, but as of posting it looks like the 64GB (4x16GB) kit dropped in price by $25!
