63' x 17' Demosaicing Sony Crystal LED TV

I wonder if a projector could do the same thing only cheaper?

In general ya, that is why projectors are used for large screens. It costs less. However there are a lot of considerations you have to take for projector installations which means in some cases they are suitable or even possible. Hence there is interest in big TV panels.

A typical digital IMAX screen is 60' x 33' and uses two side-by-side projectors for the ≈3K image it projects. I think the newer Xenon laser projector costs somewhere in the $100,000-$150,000 range each. Disadvantage with projectors is brightness and constrast will always be limited while LED panels are not. Even with the projectors working together peak brightness in digital IMAX is only 22 fL with a contrast of 2500:1.

I'm almost done paying off all my 4k upgrades from the holidays. I already decided I'm going to skip 8k. Is it sooo wrong that I want this. Man that's beautiful.
