so yea basically that's it. i really dont want to spend more that 60-70 dollars on a hard drive. i mean i was thinking sure something small would be fine now and whenever i saw one of those really sweet deals later on for like 20 dollars or so for an IDE hdd i'd pick it up but i was thinking. hell that's like 90 dollars after the fact and so why not just get that maxtor right now from tiger direct and never have to get another hard drive?

i was thinking if i just got a 80gig seagate 7200rpm SATA it would be fine for a long time and i'd probably not need another hard drive for a while. well i just want you guy's opinion's on what i should do? put out the money now or wait and save a little but maybe take a preformance hit?

The Hitachi 7K80 is my pick for situations like that, as it's probably the fastest 80GB drive out there. However, the five year warranty of the Seagate may be particularly appealing to you.
