6-to 8pin moles or 2x4pin to 8-pin for GTX 580?

My PSU just died and wonder what adapter would be best? The replacement PSU is a bit weaker so I doubt I will be doing much overclocking on the GPU side anyway.

PSU only got one 8-pin molex connector which goes to the mainboard thus I need another 8-pin adapter. Only 2 6-pin molex. It´s a dual rail PSU so wonder if it´s maybe better with 8-pin to 6-pin despite less potential max power I would imagine?

What PSU did you get?

Get a 6-pin to 8-pin PCI-E adapter. The only thing the 8-pin PCI-E has over 6-pin is two extra ground lines. All the wattage is still being carried by 3 12v lines, so there's really no difference.

It´s there for more stable voltage then or what?
I found some 8-pin to two 4-pin(3-pin) I had since before as well. Works.

I had an old pcpowerandcooling 510 ASL that has been collecting dust the 6 years I ran my Silverstone Zeus. 650W peak power and 38A on the 12V line so it´s not that weak. Computer is stable so far but god the delta fans in it are not to play with...
