6 dimm threadripper config??

I wanted to add more ram for 4k video work and was wondering if there is quad channel penalty for adding ram as indicated I the photo?

This is a tr40x 3960x build Gigabyte Aorus Master

I would expect six sticks to result in a drop of CPU performance in programs that are heavy on the cache but not all editing programs are, just look at Cinebench it doesn't care about RAM performance which means in that program all you will see is the benefits of the extra RAM.

Nah I have the money. I could buy 256GB but I'm just being frugal af

I'll just order a 8x8 or 4x16 kit and. Be done with it. 64gb would be the sweet spot for my heavy ass davinci resolve work.

I had 1024gb of ram.laying around and sold it all a few months ago.

I literally have 16GB in my whole home now. Other than my rack mount Xeon, 48GB reg ecc there. And my laptops have thier own ram and some laying around.

I sold my kids PC. I'm building him a new APU rig. All he does is roblox.

I just seena cost effective way to get 48GB in my machine because I really really do not need 64GB but 64 would be super!

Also found an old Sata 1 HD drive so no need for a new SSD drive...
