I'm looking at these 2 motherboards: asus A8n-sli and asus A8N-sli SE

I could be wrong, but the only difference in the boards I see is the fact that the A8N-sli has 8 channel sound on board while the A8N-sli SE has 6 channel sound on board.

2 questions:

-have I overlooked anything and is there another difference between the 2 boards?

-what is the difference between the 2 sound solutions when you are working with 3 speakers max?

A8n-sli newegg link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131524

A8N-sli SE link: oops, apparantly newegg doesn't sell this board. here's a link to the official Asus site with both boards. http://www.asus.com/products3.aspx?l1=3&l2=15&l3=148&slname=NVIDIA nForce4 SLI

Both boards are available in the netherlands (where I live) and there is a price difference of 2-10 euro's between the boards with the board with the 8 channel sound being the slighty more expensive one. They sell in the 105-120 euro range.

unless you are actually running with 6 or 8 speakers, there will be no difference. there wont be a difference next year either, when you can get 10 channel sound.

Looks like the SE version also supports the Cool and Quiet feature for AMD.

edit: The non SE version supports cool and quiet as well. It's listed in the specifications here:
http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=382&l1=3&l2=15&l3=0

the a8n-sli SE specifications are here:
http://nl.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=789&l1=3&l2=15&l3=148

I'm still wondering if there is a difference in sound quality if you don't install a sound card. I understand that you can run 3 speakers with both boards, but I'm curious if there's an audible difference in soundquality.

funny, I see the SE version isn't mentoned on the north-american Asus site.....
